Her behavior is riling a lot of people up!

After your jaw has returned to function following your review of this beyond merely entertaining segment on what I will without irony call "quarantinegate". you will want to turn your attention to some of the other ripples caused by that the latest wedge issue: "Should Kaci be quarantined?"

Somehow, your "no" position on this relatively easy public health question has become a proxy for your willful blindness to the Kenyan Usurper's impeachment deserving high crimes and misdemeanors.

I have made no secret that I attend (when able to endure the searing, burning pain of the stupid) from time to time to the ravings of Sean, Rush, et ilk.

Well, this time, they have brought the pain for sure.

Willing utterly to ignore the chilling impact such a policy would without any doubt impose upon future recruitment of vital personnel, the moron brigade here shows themselves to be impervious to arithmetic.

If contact with an ebola patient becomes sufficient cause to impose such a period of quarantine, the rippling, nay galloping, through the available pool of medical and paramedical personnel will mean that within weeks, if not days, all possible treatment will be out of reach of new patients, because all the trained personnel will be on paid home quarantine.

As a purely frivolous side bar to this idiocy, the female producers who infest the Hannity show are particularly irritated that Kaci Hitchcox won't put her life on three week hold for no fuckin' reason.

And, oh yeah--She is being called "the new Sandra Fluke", bringing a whole new dimension to slut shaming.

    Comments

Riding a bike with your boyfriend--a heartbeat away from fucking him!

And everyone else she might infect ?

You don't get it. Her intent is to fuck the whole town.

Ah, that explains the arch intonations with which some of the newscasters pronounced "bike ride" and "boy friend"...They really were code words for "pull a train" and "party goers"

    It's Kaci Hickox.

    oops.  thx.

    oops.  thx.

'An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure'

I am surprised that you would accept this administrations assurances, that everything is alright.

Banker and Wall Street bailout, Obamacare, Fast and Furious; Va Scandal,

Red lines in the sand. Judgegate and the list goes on

    Ineptness?

Didn't Obama tell us it was “unlikely” Ebola would come to ...

"In the unlikely event that someone with Ebola does reach our shores, we’ve taken new measures so that we’re prepared here at home. We’re working to help flight crews identify people who are sick, and more labs across our country now have the capacity to quickly test for the virus. We’re working with hospitals to make sure that they are prepared, and to ensure that our doctors, our nurses and our medical staff are trained, are ready, and are able to deal with a possible case safely."

    Ebola screening at airports relies mainly on thermometer readings;

Let them all eat cake  have Rectal thermometers, the people will know what to do with them.

Remember: Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, Eric Duncan?

    OOPs is not reassuring?

WE THE PEOPLE are supposed to trust Kaci or anyone else, to do the right thing?

HIV+ Woman Tried to Infect Wal-Mart Worker: Police

impose upon future recruitment of vital personnel,

What about the possible imposition upon the rest of the nation; because Florence Nightgale doesn't think about the possibilities of spreading the contagion to others; blinded by her determination to find the gratification that comes from serving others.

You should be grateful for her service, build a golden memorial? Should we bow to their wishes or desires?

Or should we be cautious; unlike Florence, we let the brain rule and not the heart.

Or should we be cautious; unlike Florence, we let the brain rule and not the heart.

Are you saying that instead of listening to the brain (science) based on 40 years of dealing with Ebola telling us she is not infectious, we should instead be guided by our fearful hearts?

Not dealing with the infection at the source increase the risk of Ebola spreading. Discouraging  health workers increases our risk.

A lame excuse: "If we have to sacrifice 21 days of our lives in the service of peace and tranquility; I'm going to quit helping others"

    Extortion?

Pay these folks for their 21 days of service. Maybe money will persuade them because evidently public service isn't reward enough for them?

Science? Superstrains are now drug resistant? Blood transfusions for Ebola victims?

What makes you believe Ebola can't become resistant and we find out to late, there is no cure available.

Maybe we could call it the Kaci-SU strain in HONOR of the nurse, who felt her rights trumped everyone elses right to be safe, rather than sorry.

Back to the science, she is not infectious

Health workers sacrifice vacation time to fight Ebola, you want them to sacrifice three more weeks? You need to realize that there were health worker fighting Ebola before the Ebola patient died in Dallas. none of those who returned spread the infection.

The media is stupid.  How long do you think CNN and Fox will take to end up hitting bottom?  5 years?  A decade?  They are too lazy to get their own stories they just let the Republican think tanks hand them stories.  I think of it as a Koch to Rupert money loop propaganda. One of these days they will both age out.

CNN hired a psychic to find a missing plane

Fox has a psychiatrist who calls for an American Jihad

Both are way past the bottom

I agree...LOL.  They are loosing money and the Republicans are the only thing keeping them alive.

Its better than listening to the same old Democratic mantra.  TAX THE RICH and the middle class

When the American people finally do wake up;  they will find that the Democrats (The left wing of the same vulturous (Bird) corporatists)  have sold the working class into slavery, to the creditors.

Empty promises to lull  the slave class with talk of Hope  until their is no chance of freedom, only chains.

Are the American people so blind, so as not to understand why Obama and the Democrats bailed out the same benefactors as their Republican counterparts?

The Democrats are never going to get money out of politics.

Once enslaved and the government insolvent, workers will not be demanding anything but the crumbs that fall from the masters table.

I recall Nader warned us, but the Democrats were too smart by half and rejected the solution to the dilemma the working class finds itself in now.

We fought a war to escape British slavery only to enslave ourselves to creditors.

Slavery to the British aristocracy or American Plutocracy makes no difference to the the creditors.  Pay up.

    Enjoyed that.

I admit to some overreaction in the beginning---mainly because of close proximity to the initial cases in Texas. But I can't agree with the actions taken toward Kaci.

I hate to admit it but Rick Perry played this the best. He ducked everything by leaving the country, then came out with the perfect anti-Chris statements---returning hero's, etc.. Or am I just cynical.

No one has ever gone broke selling short the moral promptings of slick Rick.

Maine judge sides with Kaci on quarantine.

LePage stated that the police car following her was for her own protection, so she wouldn't get hurt. Translation of this down east "whopper" is----now that I stirred all these yahoos up,  don't want to get  blamed if one of them shoots her off her bike.

Maine judge sides with Kaci on quarantine.

oh, those pesky rules of evidence... Kaci, evidently, had the testimony of experts, while the Governor had the local equivalent of Resistance, who left the judge unmoved.

Does the judge live within a bikes ride away from Kaci?

The chiefs did not have new scientific or medical data about Ebola when they pressed for Hagel to approve the quarantine the military official said. "This is simply about the chiefs looking at the best way to take care of the force, the families and the communities to which they are returning," a military official told CNN. This effort "is an admittedly conservative approach," the official said.

    Hagel announces mandatory Ebola quarantine

If it turns out the judge is wrong what charges will he face?

Easy for the judge to weigh the matter, especially when discipline will not be considered,  if the decision turns into a fatal error

He’ll just blame science. No skin off his back, no blood hemorrhaging.

The military isn’t going to chance the spread of the disease but some loco local judge will.

That foolish judge was relying on expert testimony from knowledgeable health care experts while ignoring overwhelming evidence from other sources. As the second season of The Walking Dead shows, quarantines don't work. Herschel Green was an educated man, a veterinarian, a scientist, but was totally wrong about the zombies. Sure we could, like Herschel, attempt to quarantine the zombies anyone who comes in contact with ebola but we won't really be safe until some patriot, like Shane Walsh, applies a Second Amendment solution to this problem.

Oh I know, people won't look at the reality of out situation until it's too late. The Walking Dead makes that clear. But can't we at least ban all bike riding in the state of Maine and eventually the whole United States. Bike riding is a small price to pay for protection from the zombie ebola plague.

Some might call this hysteria but I've seen no evidence that ebola will not mutate into a zombie plague. In fact no reputable scientist has even addressed this issue. What are they trying to hide?

That foolish judge was relying on expert testimony from knowledgeable health care experts

Were these the same experts that say Fracking is harmless?

Or that Baycol or thalidomide was safe?

Why do people trust scientists who depend upon supporters. Would a pharmaceutical company investing millions of dollars for a cure; recover expenses from curing Liberians alone?

Infect the world and the fear in the industrialized world will make this investment profitable.

Guinea pigs are needed, infected people are profitable and cuts the time needed to bring a new drug to market.

Quarantining is a more conservative approach but it is less profitable.

No victims; no need for a cure.

    LOL.....

The local equivalent of "Least" clearly could not shake someone who was bound to make a fact-based decision.

And that is one small thing right with this mess of a society.

Be oh, so very afraid, Least.  That virus is coming for you any day now.

What changed my initial reaction was becoming comfortable with the evidence of no airborne transmission---cough droplets aside. What still is missing, from my viewpoint and possibly some others is how the Dallas nurses contracted it---and while guidelines were possibly not followed and lifting the bureaucratic veil to prove that one way or another most likely won't happen any time soon, unless I missed something, there's still a slight question mark there, possibly giving the political scapegoat artists a leg up. But, in general, as the evidence came in over a several week period, my concern went down.

It seems to me what makes this last 5 weeks different from the past is the speed and breadth of the evidence which did materialize and the extent to which it informed the professionals and permeated the atmosphere for citizens who assimilate evidence. And I think it led to an informed decision by the judge in Maine and possibly to a hiatus on this "episode" domestically.  Obviously I'm generalizing from my own change in attitude.

It remains to be seen how quickly the fear mongers can be weaned--this has been pure mother's milk for them.

    cough droplets aside.

You are spreading the truth and are threatening the so called experts.

If volunteers don't want to conform to the requirements upon return, then get out them out of the way and hire professionals.

Its probably cheaper to hire your neighbor, maybe he'll volunteer to do brain surgery too, (the neighbor probably stayed at the Holiday Inn?)   as long as you don't impose restrictions, the neighbor is fine with doing the work.

Supported by a gullible class, who doesn't see the risk.

The nurse is probably a typical liberal; screaming about their Rights; but rejecting the notion of citizen responsibilities.

If this disease is a threat to National security as has been presented;  then the government needs to support a paid army of healthcare workers.

When the tour of engagement is over, this army becomes a part of the Americas Healthcare infrastructure.

    Call it the National Guard.

the speed and breadth of the evidence which did materialize and the extent to which it informed the professionals and permeated the atmosphere for citizens who assimilate evidence.

This occurred as a result of the fear mongers. Not satisfied with the BS coming out of DC.

Washington was forced to give answers and not coverups.

You really believe we would have heard about Duncan or Nina Pham if the fear mongers. hadn't pressed for more information?

Mothers milk may be fine, but the Nation is entitled to lifesaving information despite the government treating us as children "Nothing to see here folks"

"No need to be alarmed, the government will protect you" BS

911 challenged my trust in our government. I choose not to be gullible.

A government that cant protect our borders or airports isn't worth putting trust in.

Homeland security?  Duncan lied and came to America. Imagine that.

Terrorists learning to fly but not land. Imagine that.

Thanks for your comments. I don't have anything to add.

As you point out, it is difficult (Resistance to the contrary notwithstanding...) for hysteria to persist after Duncan takes his vomiting shitting bleeding ass home, where his loved ones wipe it for three more days till he goes back to ER, where he again shits vomits and bleeds next to scores of innocents, and not one of these civilians is infected.  QED.

There were lessons learned, despite the attempts by naysayers and those who would label concerned citizens as hysterical;  a term whose connotation is of contempt of those who want the best safety practices performed during a crisis.

There are many more deadly diseases that could overwhelm this country. This contagion is a test of our preparedness.

Where is the public outcry about Presbyterian Hospital Dallas and the lack of care?

Or consider that it was fear mongers who asked about the Duncan  family being placed at risk by governmental authorities, when they had to remain in an enclosed apartment with all of those spoiled sheets. Luckily for those civilians, people began to question the governments response.

Not so fortunate for the civilian nurse, Nina Pham.

Is it hysteria to question our government; Why?

Now we get the lackeys and dupes to protect this governments careless response.

One particular political party's response during this election cycle, is to blame concerned citizens, as being overly hysterical?

Another "You and Them" derisiveness, divisiveness ?

Over many centuries, the most effective way to control contagion was quarantining.

But this administration will do anything to control the message, in order to stave off it's critics.  If the message is not controlled; it would expose Obama and the Democrats who support an open border policy.

The notion of quarantining could lead to the scrutiny of a bad border policy and undercut Obama's amnesty mantra.

"We the People" need a government who really does believe in Homeland security/ Border protection and not just domestic spying.

I recall the folks at the NSA were also saying the folks who were questioning the gathering of information were only being hysterical. "Nothing to see here folks"

If the democrats win, there will be less border control and they will again come after the Second Amendment.  Not hysteria but a political fact.

The Democrats, despite their deception and name calling know this too.

There is a difference between criticism and hysteria. When considering how to control the Ebola epidemic, we can criticize the lack of some African governments in constructing the infrastructure that can care for those who are infected with Ebola. This infrastructure includes an educational system that provides knowledge instead of superstition. Nigeria has controlled Ebola and has no new cases. Liberia has pastors telling people that Ebola is God's punishment because there are homosexuals in Liberia.

Criticism would be stating that their should be a system able to deliver that large fluid replacement required for those infected. Criticism is that bodies of the dead should not be thrown out in the streets where decomposing bodies pose a risk to others. Hysteria is attacking Gays as the cause for Ebola. Hysteria is believing that a Jihadist will run to Liberia, roll in the vomit of an Ebola infected person, catch a flight to Mexico, wait to develop a fever, and in an infected state, cross the border to throw up on someone in the United States to spread Ebola.

cross the border to throw up on someone in the United States to spread Ebola.

Why would a terrorist need to throw up on a person, when all they would need to do is just get a job at a local convenience mart and spit in the Slurpee mix.

People have suspected, our food chain is vulnerable to exploitation. but Im sure there are those who will claim it is hysteria, to consider this avenue by terrorists?

This administration doesn't want criticism, so it derides it's critics as hysterical.

We need a Federal plan already in place, in the event of a National crisis/collapse of civil government, not states doing their own thing.

CDC director: We could have done more to prevent second ...

CDC: Second Dallas Nurse 'Should Not Have Traveled' - NPR

Criticism of the government, is not hysteria, as the democrats so eager to protect this administration; would try to label the people/public who distrust this administrations abilities.

Doh! You think the CDC should have done more and would have shown the Nation they weren’t acting like the keystone cops; instead of blaming the Republicans for the failure of the CDC.

How much money has already been spent to support a CDC leadership, who now recognizes the most fundamental control of this disease, should have been initiated early on?  But saw a political advantage if scaring the public would serve a political agenda of providing more money for the CDC.

Brownie CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden and HHS Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell  "You’re doing a heck of a job"

Too bad you failed in the early stages, of trying to prevent the spread of this disease.

One person infected was one to many.

Luckily We The People didn't suffer because of your ineptness. You can always blame the Republicans though; the democrats will buy this excuse.

The CDC director responded as the threat became clearer. The number of infected peoples is low. The group infected has been health care workers. The only United States death has been an infected traveler who was not properly diagnosed despite telling health care workers that he came from Liberia.

Criticism was listened to and guidelines changed. Science ruled the day and health care workers risked their lives to save patients. We risk harming ourselves if we follow the hysterics. Infections that had been controlled are flaring again because the hysterics, aka anti-backers, gained influence. Climate change deniers are placing the entire planet at risk.

Given a choice between the CDC director and the hysterics, I'll take the CDC director. Asked to choose between epidemiologists and infectious disease specialists over the hysterics. I'll take the climate scientists over the deniers.

The hysterics will always be hysterical. Other than panic, the hysterics offer nothing that will not do more harm.

The CDC director responded as the threat became clearer.

What part of Ebola, didn't the director understand? Did we need to draw a picture for the director, so he would understand what and why  other victims around the world suffered?

Let it reach the American homeland, then it will be clearer as to what precautions were to be initiated?

"To hell with the isolated incidence of occurrences, shit happens?" "The strong will survive.  "There may be casualties, but they can live with the numbers?"

Had there been a vigorous attempt to keep Ebola isolated to the countries origins, the director wouldn't have had to go through the learning curve to get a clearer picture.

Thank you for pointing out the ineptness of our

    Nations protectors.

Wars because of our dependence upon foreign oil.

Food safety in jeopardy because of our trade agreements. Why would a foreign worker care if he wipes with a lettuce leaf or defecates on the crop and some American gets sick?

Border security under assault because of open border advocates and the policies they pursue.

Disease allowed to enter our country because our defense depends up an affidavit.

What a weak defense, making us look like idiots

How much clearer, that globalization, threatens the citizens of the US.  Natural barriers are no longer a deterrent to unwanted food borne parasites or disease. Barriers must come down for the benefit of the money makers?.

Globalization advocates: "How dare Americans refuse to allow people from Ebola ravaged counties, it's discriminatory. It would hurt commerce".

Multinationals: "Screw the workers of America"

As I said the hysterics will always be hysterical. Thus far, no US citizen has died from Ebola on US soil. US Health care workers have done an excellent job,

Thus far, no US citizen has died from Ebola on US soil.

If someone did, would you absolutely hear of it.?

If some bum is found dead in some back alley on skid row, no medical team to ascertain cause of death what would you know?

Some higher up telling the subordinates Keep this information quiet, because it may create a panic?

The Governments love the gullible, it makes controlling others easier.  Those pesky hysterics might ruin the governments deception and uncover embarrassing events.

Whereby the people lose confidence. necessary condition to maintain order.

Excellent conspiracy theory you got going there. It's the perfect example of "lack of evidence just proves my case" type reasoning. Don't let facts get in your way.

Nor accept what the government says are the facts, their objective is to control the masses.

Fact:  Duncan got on a plane, came to America and infected others.

No amount of excuses, overcomes the breach of our Homeland security,

We were lucky Duncan went to the hospital in the first place, but to bad for him they didnt treat him.

Had Duncan just checked into some obscure Dive motel full of meth junkies, alongside a major highway;  who knows how we would have tracked who he may have had contact with?

Other than panic, the hysterics offer nothing that will not do more harm.

Oh this is golden, coming from you

Uncle Toms Cabin (hysterics) helped end slavery.

Hysterics might help to beef up our HealthCare System and address it's lack of caring, unless you think it unnecessary?

This makes sense only to you. Harriet Beecher Stowe was not hysterical. She put slavery in a form that could be understood by those outside the South. I thought your argument was that Stowe and other abolitionists were in error because they did not tell slaves to be happy with their dis a lot in life. You are being inconsistent.

Hysterics won't help Obamacare. Accurate analysis of the faults in the program will make a difference.

     Hysterics won't help Obamacare.

I am afraid nothing will,  until we get the greedy money changers out of healthcare and the prevention of securing the border. The greedy see great financial gain, by keeping things, as they are.

The foxes guarding the hen house.

Stowes story was not based on events of the majority of slave owners, she chose what some considered was a very isolated case. Her hysteria and agitation lead to the deaths of 620,000 Americans.

As for your other comment; I don't care to reargue YOUR strawman arguments, as to what you presume. are Christian activities.

Agitating for war, no matter how righteous the cause individuals might believe; stirring up contentions and warring against others, is not a Christian commandment.

The northern industrialists used the abolitionists and so called Christians for their own personal gain.

Convincing the uninformed, it was a righteous war and Christ wanted his servants to enlist or be drafted, to fight in the North's schemes, supported by their army of conscripts, to war against the South.

Freeing slaves was secondary but it worked to garner support for the war of aggression by the North.

I strongly suspect that R has never read Uncle Tom's Cabin and knows nothing about it. Edit to add link in case he wants to rectify that: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/203

I hope you know,  Uncle Toms Cabin is fiction? A story leading to war and death because of the hysteria generated.

Today we can use the hysteria surrounding Eric Duncan's death  and it might lead to life preserving changes, in how hospitals can not turn patients away, because the patient didn't have insurance.

If that doesn't rise to the level of hysterical condemnation, then we are already beaten.

Go back to being lemmings, they don't get emotional at all.

If Uncle Tom's Cabin led to the Civil War, then what did the Bible lead to?

    Redemption?

    Your question is too vague.

I didn't mean to imply that she was the only one who allowed the fiction to lead to hysteria.

Alone she was just the writer of a fictional account, it was her readers that allowed the fictional account, to agitate a Nation to war, killing one another, brother against brother.

"so you are the little woman who wrote the book that started this great war."

    Abraham Lincoln

Harriet Beecher Stowe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You continue to produce word salad. You began the thread stating that hysterics ended slavery. You argued that hysterics were good. Now you are arguing that ending slavery was not good. Stowe's novel focused on the evils of slavery. You say that her depiction of slavery caused the war, but then you say that the war was not about slavery, when one reads the articles of secession, we see the issue was slavery. Jefferson Davis noted slavery as the reason Virginia seceded.

Was Stowe's novel a force for good or evil? Was ending slavery as an end result of the Civil War a good thing or a bad thing? You seem to be all over the map.

    ,

What grade are you in that you have such a difficult time, without twisting it up in your mind?

You continue to produce word salad.

You began the thread stating that hysterics ended slavery

No you began the thread saying

"the hysterics offer nothing that will not do more harm"

    by rmrd0000 on Sun, 11/02/2014 - 12:57pm

    that hysterics ended slavery.

If going to war and killing others because of a fictional book, isn't hysterics I don't know what would be

But if it serves your agenda it is good?

Now you are arguing that ending slavery was not good.

What? Another straw man argument by you; to argue over?

You say that her depiction of slavery caused the war,

Abraham Lincoln thought her book did.

"so you are the little woman who wrote the book that started this great war." Abraham Lincoln

When I made reference to this same comment upstream, made by Lincoln  was it word salad to you also ?

but then you say that the war was not about slavery,

According to Lincoln it was not.

Lincoln  August 22, 1862, in terms of the limits imposed by his duty as president to save the Union:

"If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it,"

All the rest of your questions are intended to draw me into one of your petty arguments.

You began this particular thread by saying hysterics ended the Civil War. The novel made clear the evils of slavery to those in the North and garnered support for ending the spread of slavery.

Regarding Lincoln's reply to Horace Greeley, you again revert to snippets. You include the snippet that Lincoln want to preserve the Union. You include a snippet saying that if he could preserve the Union without freeing slaves, he would do it. You conveniently leave out the part where Lincoln notes that he would free all the slaves, if that would preserve the Union.

    http://www.nytimes.com/1862/08/24/news/letter-president-lincoln-reply-ho...

Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, granting freedom to slaves in the Confederacy from the Union perspective. Delaware remained in the Union and remained a slave state.Lincoln  allowed slaves to carry weapons and fight the Confederacy. This was a death knell for slavery. Frederick Douglass and Lincoln worked on recruiting Blacks into the Union Army. Douglass went from labeling Lincoln a sad sack of fecal matter to considering him a man worthy of respect.

    http://articles.latimes.com/2013/jan/02/opinion/la-oe-wiener-emancipatio...

Please try to refrain from snippets and include the person's entire statement to avoid the appearance of shading the facts.

It is no wonder everything is word salad for you. Your mind is closed to anything other than; some preconceived opinion you already believe

    Your snippet charge verifies it.

    Lincoln's snippet speaks for itself.

    My comment

If he could preserve the Union without freeing slaves, he would do it.

There was no need to include the entirety.

Your own reply, supports my comment  DOH!

    Your comment

" the part where Lincoln notes that he would free all the slaves, if that would preserve the Union.

Preserving the Union was Lincoln's objective,

Did my snippet not say that? Of course it did,

    Edited to add/

A LETTER FROM PRESIDENT LINCOLN. - Reply to Horace ...

…..I have not meant to leave any one in doubt.

I would save the Union. I would save it the shortest way under the Constitution. The sooner the national authority can be restored the nearer the Union will be "the Union as it was."

If there be those who would not save the Union unless they could at the same time save Slavery, I do not agree with them.

If there be those who would not save the Union unless they could at the same time destroy Slavery, I do not agree with them.

My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or destroy Slavery……

Only two referencs to Ebola in NYT online page today---oops, that says espanol not ebola. So only one reference---wow did you see the NYT ad of what appear to be humans of the female persuasion boxing in their underwear (I assume, or is this 5th Ave. dress these days?) using Louie Vuitton handbags as boxing gloves---to ebola, an article about impediments to developing vacines. Now that all the fuss is over Isn't there some way Loius Vuitton could exploit Kaci Hickox's new found fame?

Maybe George Zimmerman could be on the ticket, telling others just as Kaci, about defending their rights?

    Resistance,

    Your Lincoln diversion was interesting.

The fact remains that your Ebola response is hysterical both in the sense of the irrational fear sense and the humorous sense.

    Your words were insensitive.

The hysterics will always be hysterical. Other than panic, the hysterics offer nothing that will not do more harm.

    Deriding citizens concerned about EBOLA?

I was trying to show, you were so full of yourself and the ridiculousness of your claim.

Knowing you would say, it was a good thing that the hysteria that swept America to war, was a good thing, because it freed the slaves.

Contradicting your ridiculous claim meant to deride concerned citizens,

Unless it's for a cause you believe so strongly in; a fictional account /book; and the hysteria it generated that led to the War and the death of thousands  then that is acceptable to you?

According to you; others concerned about Ebola should be ridiculed, as unworthy of consideration, because no good, will come from considering their concerns.

    $$$$$$$$$

Hysterics might force the government to stop making stupid mistakes and protect our people and Homeland. When the people get pissed off enough and it appears their uncontrolled rage might create a problem, governments listen.

But first we have to get the defenders of careless leadership. out of the way and your ridiculing of concerned citizens does not help.

    Edited to add

To many Americans; Ebola isn't hysterical / funny and may affect how people feel at the voting booth.

Which party listened to the concerns and which one mocked?

Governor Christie with all of his faults listened and he understood  "People don't care how much you know, they want to know how much you care".

BTW, to the rural Americans, they know to keep the sick, from mingling with the rest of the herd. Instead the dummies allow the disease into our homeland and then ridicule those "others" for asking questions about the wisdom behind the decisions Washington, DC makes.

Hysteria has to be called out precisely to prevent harm to all of us. Let us analyze Christie's hysteria. The Governor would quarantine workers exposed to Ebola for 21 days. A medical team would bed sidelined after successfully treating an Ebola patient would be prevented from teaching their skills to others if another Ebola patient showed up. The next patient would be treated by s group of rookies rather than people with experience.

If health care workers who sacrificed time by caring for Ebola patients in foreign countries realize they will face forced quarantine on return, they will be less likely to serve overseas. That reluctance to serve is not extortion, it is the fact that they don't want to be treated like pariahs.

Ebola has not spread like wildfire in the United States. It can be contained by science and public health practices. If you want Ebola to spread, follow the hysterics of Christie. Christie is making a political statement that does nothing to protect the citizens of New Jersey.

Capitalizing on the Nations hysteria about Ebola. would have helped the Democratic party

You couldn't have asked for a better issue, to train and pay for an army of skilled professionals, to deal with the perceived threat.

You're so concerned about the volunteers, who would give their services for free, all the while bemoaning the obstruction of the Republicans to fund important programs. Because why should they fund the programs, volunteers will do the work.

It's as though the left side of the elite liberals brains undercuts what the right side of their brain should do, to gain the advantage.

Points were being made, on pointing out the lack of funding for the CDC; but somewhere along the line, the Democratic strategists thought mocking Fox news or concerned citizens would advance their agenda. What agenda,? Protecting unpaid volunteers.

When I walked the picket lines in defense of Unions, we didn't appreciate scabs doing our jobs for less money, let alone for free.

Message: Force this government to fund skilled workers, or this disease might spread.

Who said elections are won by telling the truth?

It might spread, wasn't a lie. It was just improbable, and the dumb Democrats made sure everyone understood the low risk.

Dumb liberals intervened in what the hysteria could accomplish, to advance their causes.

The threat didn't need to be real as long as the Nation believed it was.

Fox news helping to spread the hysteria, became unwitting allies to be used against the obstructionists.

But as many Americans have come to realize; The elite liberals are more interested in patting themselves on the back, for being so much smarter than the rest of the country; they have science on their side.

There is no need to panic so there is no need to fund the CDC after all

Christie is making a political statement that does nothing to protect the citizens of New Jersey.

DOH! Christie knows how to get the votes  The elite Democrats so full of knowledge, want the accolades for being so much smarter, than the majority of the electorate.

    This simple truth being ignored

"People don't care how much you know, they want to know how much you care".

It could be a real threat of perceived threat, but don't insult them by proving to them how they are so stupid and you so smart.

You want to win an election or recognition?

    Resistance

You have jumped from saying that there was a real threat from Ebola to now stating that Democrats should have exploited a non-existent threat from Ebola. We should applaud Democrats who provided the truth.

Regarding elections, Kansans are likely to re-election Brownbeck who ran their state economy into the ground. There is a toss-up election for Governor of Florida with a Republican who can hardly put two sentences together. LePage will likely win his election despite being a spiteful prick. Voters realize what they are doing and a majority in some states want the worst option. We may have to wait until a Presidential year to effect a change.

I cant help it if you cant think outside the box. Both political parties have constructed

What good is a perceived threat, if my added voice. supports the stupid strategists voice, that goes contrary to my goal.

Telling Americans I don't really mean to be so concerned. Its all a ploy?

Christie doing the opposite, He really means to exploit the electorates fear because that is how you win elections.

Christie knows the science, so what?  I know the science, so what?

Should I undercut the objectives by saying; "There really is no threat, therefore don't believe those who say we need to fund the CDC.  Everything is fine, Ebola is so rare, you shouldn't fear it

The real threat about Ebola is the cavalier way our Homeland security was so easily compromised and we had to hear from those who were elected to safeguard us; come up with the lame excuse "Duncan lied: (Terrorists don't lie?)

Rather than telling us the truth; Commerce trumps all other concerns

I have never strayed from that message. I do not trust these inept "keystone cops: to keep us safe, they'll do anything to control the people.

Both sides relying on a stupid electorate, to keep them in power,

Our side had a clear opportunity to benefit from the others sides, fearful electorate.

Was I concerned that my own side would attack me?

Not at all;  as long as my strategy would get our agenda enacted; but the intelligentsia, wanted to brag about their calmness, insulting others for being fearful; rather than exploit a condition.

No wonder we keep losing elections?

Does thinking outside of the box mean contradicting oneself? Because I don't see that as a skill to be cultivated.

It is difficult to follow Resistance's thought pattern.

Your difficulty arises, because you make too many straw man arguments and then believe your own misrepresentations.

Contradicting oneself?  Democrats telling everyone how they are the only ones who really care and will protect this country, yet their actions prove to the nations voters, otherwise?

Guantanamo Bay and Obama,  now there’s a case study in contradictions.

I don't see that as a skill to be cultivated.

It worked for Obama, he got elected

No real border security, people with infectious diseases just get on a plane and come to America, and we must not forget the Whitehouse and elevator security breach.

The only protection I see, is the attempt by the Democrats to protect Obama's reputation.

Obama isn't running he already did his part by protecting Wall Street/ bankers

As I have written before, the Democratic grassroots, the serfs,  should have capitalized on the fear in the nation. Not trusting the message from the Corporatist Democratic party who work for another master and might engage in Counterintelligence or sabotage.

Grass roots Democratic candidate "We hear you citizens, by golly we do need to fund the CDC immediately, and we would do so, if; it wasn't for them big bad Republicans keep obstructing us.

Now if ever there was a conspiracy I suspect the power and the money of those  who really run the country, are not interested in getting Democrats elected and would advise the Democrats to listen to a strategy, that would contribute to their demise.(Counterintelligence, sabotage)

Remember Max Bauchus?  Put into a position of power and control? .

The advisors still get paid, win or lose, next election they'll be saying  "we'll whip them mean ol nasty republicans, next time"

"All's Fair in Love and politics"

People need to read the warnings of Eugene Debs when writing  about the crooked politicians in both parties who would sell out the people.

Ten thousand times has the labor movement stumbled and fallen and bruised itself, and risen again; been seized by the throat and choked and clubbed into insensibility; enjoined by courts, assaulted by thugs, charged by the militia, shot down by regulars, traduced by the press, frowned upon by public opinion, deceived by politicians, threatened by priests, repudiated by renegades, preyed upon by grafters, infested by spies, deserted by cowards, betrayed by traitors, bled by leeches, and sold out by leaders

The deficit is down. Unemployment is down. More people have health care. Democrats ran from a successful President. Senate candidate Grimes was an Obama delegate, but wouldn't admit that she voted for Obama. Many Democrats ran away from Obama. They did not run to on a platform that protected Obama. Gore lost running away from Clinton. History repeats itself.

    Bogus claims.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I know that you have made bogus claims.

The majority of the people, are tired of Obama and they are sending a message.

Pandering to Latinos and the Black community was divisive politics; Most Americans are tired of that crap.

Ferguson did not help, nor Obama's unilateral approach to neither amnesty, nor his using the atrocity at Sandy Hook for political gain.

With self-inflicted injuries he led the social democrats to a loss.

Did I not project this would occur?

As for your misleading claims about unemployment, another issue the American workforce will not buy, recognizing it for what it really is.

Unfortunately, some of the negative features of the recovery -- flat wages and people dropping out of the labor force -- have been just as persistent......That has been another consistent feature of this recovery, unfortunately: Unemployment has come down partly because people are dropping out of the labor force........ Most of the new jobs in this recovery have been low-wage jobs. Wages have been basically stagnant for several decades, in fact, while the incomes of the top 1 percent have soared.

U.S. Creates 248,000 Jobs In September; Unemployment ...

This loss is due to the Presidents unlikable numbers, the other Democratic candidates knew this too. but couldn't avoid the calamity.

Corporate Democrats ruined the  social movement, setting it back.

    I am not surprised

As your article notes wages have been stagnant for DECADES. As I noted GOO economic policy tanked Kansas' economy.

I always heard that real wages started going up again in the 90s boom.

The crucial part of that was the lower income levels, it made the "a rising tide lifts all boats" phrase ring true. In boomer lifetimes, that had never happened before, certainly not during Reagan. Nobody bought that during Reagan because it didn't happen. When it happened via"third way", many started to believe.Concurrently in the UK, too, same thing: not under Thatcher, but under Blair. This is also why the real estate crash hit so hard, because ordinary people finally had finally started to believe that capitalism, rejiggered for fairness for all by third way politicians, was working out for them.

At a time of the signs and wonders that surely signal a pending apocalypse, viz a Republican is elected governor of Massachusetts and the Republicans control the NY state senate, of course the unattributed author of the caption line (contained in a menacing rant,) Governor Le Page of Maine is re-hired/
