Vermont Democrats made Christine Hallquist the first openly transgender person to win a major party nomination for statewide office in U.S. history as she clinched Tuesday’s primary election for governor.

I think it changes the political space by them being indifferent to the Guinness Book of World Records thing, and focused on issues. What could be more reassuring than being nonchalant, like Jodie Foster's "really, I have nothing to say" approach. To me that's progress.
