purity testing apparently already occurring regarding Kamala vs. Tulsi:

Just read a piece (Vox? Bloomberg? Vanity Fair?) on Ted Kennedy's theatrics at the 1980 convention that basically killed Carter's chances, much to fill an inflated ego. The Dems put in safeguards to limit a repeat of such a self-defeatung scenario, but then we ripped those out to somehow show how fair and obliging we were to an independent. Wonder if we'll talk about how meaningless endorsements are this cycle? Or how dull & repetitive 15 debates get to be? Lessons we'll have to learn all over. I hope Bernie's approved the Caucus and Primary schedule already, so we don't have any more hiccups.

Not afraid to say it

There is nothing that warrants being afraid to stay that Harris will face obstacles because of her race. Behar misses the hammer that the GOP will use. Kamala Harris is married to a white man. Republican heads will explode and the racism that forms the backbone of the party will spill out.
Harris attended Howard and is an AKA. Her sorority will have her back against any pushback in the black community.

I noticed last night that there is also this group on twitter that is applying a purity test that Kamala is not #AmericanDOS
She rates merely a lowly person with colored skin, I guess? All these tests in the game of victim Olympics...

Aside, just ran across on topic of victim Olympics, where everyone feels eligible to play now:

Multiple Democratic Party candidates acknowledge that racism exists. There are people posting on social media suggesting the Harris is not black enough. It is unclear that these people represent anything more than a fringe element. We had the debate about who was black enough to be considered black when Obama ran. Kamala Harris attended Howard University as an undergrad and talks about how that framed her love for the law and her vision of justice oriented prosecutors who combated racism in the system. One obstacle she will have to address is her actions as a prosecutor. She will be queried about whether she fought against bias in the system.
You can Google her C-SPAN interview with Jonathan Capehart to get a basic feel for her rationale for running. There are real issues being dealt with. There is no victim Olympics. Someone suggested that we should not take social media commentary too seriously, even if it goes viral.

This isn’t the first time news outlets have reported on past relationships of a presidential candidate. Remember all the clutched pearls about Paul Ryan’s supposed black ex-girlfriend? Or the search for Obama’s exes like they were Harvard Becky with the good hair? What these past stories and the current coverage of Harris are really about is white America’s obsession with black sexuality. Analyzing, dissecting and pathologizing black love and sex under the guise of concern about health care or morality or news gathering is as American as racism and apple pie. That’s why Fox News and the far right and even USA Today jumped on this story right after Brown’s little piece dropped.
However the facts just don’t match the right wing and subtly mainstream narrative. Did Kamala Harris have an extra-marital affair with Willie Brown? Not really. Brown had been separated but not divorced from his wife, Blanche Vitero, since 1976. He met Kamala Harris in 1994 when she was 29 and he was 60 and their whirlwind romance was all over the California newspapers. They broke up around the time he was elected mayor of San Francisco, a position he held from 1996 to 2004.
Did Kamala Harris benefit professionally from dating Brown? That’s undeniable,—Willie Brown was notorious for his cronyism and he appointed her to career-boosting commissions, but he certainly didn’t own her. When running for San Francisco district attorney in 2003 Harris told the San Francisco Weekly :
Does that sound like a woman who needed Brown to get a leg up in life? More importantly, let ye who has never dated anyone who helped your career cast the first 2 a.m. “Hey you up?” text.

So far Kamala Harris has faced a Birther attack and an adultery attack. Black women voters are not going to be pleased. Her AKA sorors will most likely give her overwhelming support. She should do well in California and South Carolina. The question for potential black candidates like Cory Booker or Eric Holder is can they gain more traction than Kamala Harris? 20 thousand people came out for her in Oakland.
