I agree this is a very worthy topic to draw attention to and litigate unfortunately it looks like Avenatti found out the next day that he is going to be busy with other things:
Avenatti indicted on 36 charges of tax dodging, perjury, theft from clients
By Michael Finnegan @ LATimes.com, APR 11, 2019 | 11:50 AM
His Twitter feed says this now, as I haven't checked it lately, I don't know how long this has been the case:

1) yes, I knew about the 36 charges when I posted this - wanted the Nike thing to take focus for a second, since it's not often that a multinational behemoth becomes our BFF, especially one that not long ago was known for Vietnamese sweatshops.
2) Avenatti periodically closes his Twitter feed to non-followers - you can click follow to see what happens
3) he posted a support letter from the paraplegic he claimed was 3-4 weeks old. I of course don't know how true.
4) I again think that bringing down and flipping the President's lawyer/fixer along with Hollywood's AMI who's now selling the bankrupt National Enquirer has made Avenatti a lot of enemies.
5) Bezos claimed he had his phone hacked by Saudis, and then it turned out to be his brother-in-law, and then it was found AMI approached the brother-in-law already having the phone texts. Game on.
6) Avenatti was arrested on spousal abuse a few months ago, and then it turned out it wasn't his spouse, then all charges were dropped, but not before some prime time "Avenatti is a scumbag" publicity.
7) Leopold reported Trump had ordered Cohen to lie. Amazingly the Mueeler investigation broke silence to say this wasn't quite accurate (w/o saying what wasn't accurate) - Rosenstein calling them to make a statement toot sweet?, followed by a round of public "what a shitty self-promoting reporter Leopold is", which helped lead to Barr's approval and initial acceptance of his summary, only to have Mueller team leak that Leopold wasthe right all along.
7) Stormy was busted for public obscenity in Cleveland, only to have it unravel as a police setup. (yes, Avenatti pushed this hard)
8) yes, Avenatti's likely played loose and fast over the years - but of course Trump 100x so, David Pecker 100x so, Nike 100x so. Remember Giuliani and his insider team of FBI agents he leaked from Oct 2016, that swayed Comey to make a pre-election announcement?
9) hoping Avenatti can make them look like shit again, but if not, they're still shit.
10) the NFL has a pay scheme for high school and college kids. Adidas was found out in this, Nike for the moment has avoided pushback on its obvious involvement, boys will be boys, locker room talk, everyone knows this is happening no big deal yadda yadda yadda...
11) Nike helped the NFL solve their Kapaernick problem with a bit of self-promotion PR magic - Kap is still blacklisted, blacks are still being killed in the street, but we have his big poster from Nike celebrating him - and Avenatti's the scumbag?

More from the world of sports, where that chinese Florida handjob joint now apparently has no human trafficking to speak of, so the Patriots owner's video can stay secret - how does that relate to the Chinese madam and her pay-for-access-to-Trump biz the Chinese woman busted at Mar-a-Lago with a dozen spying devices, and the Secret Service head who got fired for apparently doing his job in securing the President's playground...

FWIW: on Fri WaPo published a lengthy piece giving the paraplegic client's side of the story: A mentally ill man was pushed to the brink of suicide in jail. Then Michael Avenatti stole millions from him, feds say.

Sigh, we already pretty well knew what feds say, thus the charges. We do get an important piece of refutation re the endorsement letter via Johnson's letter. Other than that I don't really see any confirmation or disproval of Avenatti's story (it's unclear whether the Post checked the payout schedule or took prosecutors' word fir it, and whether the claim about medical expenses stands up.
In any case, will wait for the trial or plea bargain, but really doesn't matter to me - I only care that he took down Cohen and thus wounded Trump - bravo. If this is another scam, that'd be great to see him reverse it if embarrasses his opponents. If it stands, well too bad,but presumably he gets what he deserves.
Ironically, them charging him with exaggerating his wealth tho get a loan is one of Trump's biggest tricks in business - looking forward to Avenatti's court statement: " but the President of the United States does it and you never charged him".
