In the NFL, it's the players that got the "censored" treatment. But at NBA games, fans gotta toe the line, too?

The intra-Palestinian meeting in Moscow has precedent
— Hanna Notte (@HannaNotte) February 29, 2024
Russia's hosted such meetings in the past, most recently Feb 2019
Russia has long lamented the US' "monopolization" of the peace process & tried to carve out a niche for itself: mediating among the disunited Palestinians/2

All eyes on #Chad right now
Chad has two internet trunks coming into the country: One from the Red Sea via Sudan; the other from Cameroon. Not possible for the totality of the country's internet network to be shut unless done centrally. A lot of rumors swirling; few facts. https://t.co/N6bDJZ2ixO

Just an extension of corporatism - now corporate nations stretch their influence.

Hey your first sentence basically is an explanation to myself, in a nutshell, why I have long had this disgust thing about fandom of professional team sports! I try not to be a party pooper and kill joy about this, understand how it's almost a necessary entertainment thing in a lot of people's lives and a useful substitute for tribalism and all kinds of aggressions. But really, it often strikes me as absurd: do people stay loyal fans of like, film production companies?! No, they judge each film as it comes out, good or bad. Or like, Proctor and Gamble? No they might like one product and not the other. The loyalty to pro teams has just always struck me as: sicko. And this was even confirmed by the spouse, the progeny of a football coach father. He watched pro football on TV with the sound off and was not a "fan" of any one team, he was interested in how they were playing the game, and who was excelling, not rooting for win/lose, nor "my team, love it or leave it" no matter what it may do.

Jo-na-than! I had a friend who rooted for Apple like that.
Me I watched football for the pom-pom girls - the blood & broken bones was just gravy.

Makes perfect sense if you are a shareholder! As to anyone else, though, to me, makes it likely that the person is a stoopid sheeple, sucker-born-every-minute type.

by artappraiser on Wed, 10/16/2019 - 12:06am
wow, this actually amazes me, the people of Hong Kong are not at all like the people of China, they are all for the hooliganism. Like few others in the world, this is not your average population. This says they're really pissed, ready for revolution:
Just got to go to work, get the kids dinner, no time for revolution, but glad others are doing it? Does not bode well for keeping this population in line. They will quietly sabotage whatever they can.
