Looks like the NBA is more totalitarian about protest than the NFL?

In the NFL, it's the players that got the "censored" treatment. But at NBA games, fans gotta toe the line, too?

Just had our “Free Hong Kong” sign confiscated at Capitol One Arena at the Wizards game against the Guangzhou Long Lions. #FreeHongKong #NBA #Censorship pic.twitter.com/on1O4QdBUi

Just an extension of corporatism - now corporate nations stretch their influence.
Makes you wonder why Putin's being secretive - he should enjoy the sunshine.

Hey your first sentence basically is an explanation to myself, in a nutshell, why I have long had this disgust thing about fandom of professional team sports! I try not to be a party pooper and kill joy about this, understand how it's almost a necessary entertainment thing in a lot of people's lives and a useful substitute for tribalism and all kinds of aggressions.  But really, it often strikes me as absurd: do people stay loyal fans of like, film production companies?!  No, they judge each film as it comes out, good or bad. Or like, Proctor and Gamble? No they might like one product and not the other. The loyalty to pro teams has just always struck me as: sicko. And this was even confirmed by the spouse, the progeny of a football coach father. He watched pro football on TV with the sound off and was not a "fan" of any one team, he was interested in how they were playing the game, and who was excelling, not rooting for win/lose, nor "my team, love it or leave it" no matter what it may do.

Jo-na-than! I had a friend who rooted for Apple like that.
Me I watched football for the pom-pom girls - the blood & broken bones was just gravy.

How corporatism looked in the 70's:

I had a friend who rooted for Apple like that.

Makes perfect sense if you are a shareholder! As to anyone else, though, to me, makes it likely that the person is a stoopid sheeple, sucker-born-every-minute type.

    #TakeAKnee out, #Let1000FlowersBloom in.

    made me laugh:

AND last but not least, were y'all waiting for the Drumpf to chime in? Well, never fear, here he is:

oh this is rich, to Laura Ingraham and Breitbart, it's the fault of "the left" for tolerating it:

    back at the NFL:

    Globalism is hard work:

so if Wales beat Azerbaijan and Croatia beat Slovakia and Wales beat Hungary and the Czech Republic invades Slovenia causing Serbia to push north into Romania leaving North Macedonia requiring a draw against Albania to declare Moldava formally a Ukrainian

Hong Kong protesters are hooligans (more like hockey than basketball?) The classic silent majority and all that.

wow,  this actually amazes me, the people of Hong Kong are not at all like the people of China, they are all for the hooliganism. Like few others in the world, this is not your average population. This says they're really pissed, ready for revolution:

Protesters' actions that people find unacceptable:
    - None 44.9%
    - Vandalism of MTR 23.8% -
    - Resolving conflicts with violence 9.6%
    - Throwing Molotov cocktails 7.1%
Only 1.6% finds attacking #police unacceptable, even less than those disagreeing with vandalism of traffic lights pic.twitter.com/D095ARjQ1W

Just got to go to work, get the kids dinner, no time for revolution, but glad others are doing it? Does not bode well for keeping this population in line. They will quietly sabotage whatever they can.

The police have been attacking them, so not much sympathy. MTR a bigger problem, the biggest complaint I hear.

If this video is what many in Hong Kong are seeing everyday, makes it a little more understandable, it's like the constant daily resistance thing has already started:

wow. This is probably why they haven't shut this down with extreme violence yet.

Trump's deal with Erdogan, Rudy scheming to remove the Turkish cleric from PA, must all be miles from a lucrative endorsement deal with China for a Turkish player - now the miniwar with the Kurds. Freedom fries while money burns - which is the hotter topic? Loose lips sink scholarships sponsorships? (knew I could pun better)

-Haven’t seen or talked to my family 5 years
    -Jailed my dad
    -My siblings can’t find jobs
    -Revoked my passport
    -International arrest warrant
-My family can’t leave the country
    -Got Death Threats everyday
    -Got attacked, harassed
-Tried to kidnap me in Indonesia

This is exactly the kind of thing just slays me about pro sports, that someone like Peter Baker would like Thos. Boswell making mythic and would feel this swell of pride and patriotism; it's just fucking game played for big profit:

Thank goodness that when we finally have these amazing ⁦@Nationals⁩ we also have ⁦@ThomasBoswellWP⁩, the poet laureate of Washington baseball, to capture this dream-like moment. His whole career has been leading up to this. https://t.co/KULjHKHaSY

    Because

.. Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once upon a time handed out military command, high civil office, legions — everything, now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses. ~ Juvenal  Satire 10.77–81, circa 100 A.D.

It is what it is, can't change human nature, I guess.
