MEET THE PERPS

Just a place to continue collecting information that will help us get to know more about our fellow citizens who decided to storm the Capitol on Jan. 6. Like have done on Moat's thread for the past four days:

THE FBI WANTS THE PUBLIC TO HELP IDENTIFY CAPITOL RIOTERS An important step toward arresting all the offenders who got away.

(also welcome: information on interesting folks who attended the rally but didn't join in the stormin')

Peter Francis Stager Charged: Arkansas Man Accused of Beating D.C. Cop With Flagpole

By Jessica McBride @ Heavy.com,  Jan 14, 2021 at 7:49pm (also heard confirmed on CNN TV just now-Anderson Cooper)

[....] The FBI received a tip that one of the individuals who assaulted the officer, whose name is given only as B.M., on the stairs of the U.S. Capitol building was Peter Francis Stager, the complaint says. The confidential information identified Stager from two videos posted on Twitter. One depicted him amongst a large group on the Capitol stairs, the complaint says. Online records say he has ties to Conway, Arkansas.

That’s a city located not far from Little Rock. Online records link him to an inactive single-family home construction company. Multiple pro Trump rioters have been named and charged in connection with the riots; Stager’s political registration is listed as “optional.” He did not have any known social media accounts. Stager only comes up with a minor traffic case in Arkansas court records [....]

    That asshat there ??

Too bad. He'll just have to eat his feces.
When his organic food went in his piehole,
it surely comes out his anus as organic.

^ important: new young convert from upstate NY !!!

    • Trump tweet inspired New York man to come to D.C. on Jan. 6, never went to a Trump rally before
    • He plans to return to protest inauguration unless arrested
    • No regrets! Only 26-yrs. old, former grocery worker who now makes money cutting trees and repairing chimneys.Covid world and economy makes him think there is no future? And the feeling of power from being able to smoke a joint in a Senator's office gave him a feeling of power and agency?Indeed, in the days since the upheaval, Fellows said his profile on the dating app Bumble is “blowing up” after he posted pictures of himself at the Capitol. “I didn’t hurt anyone, I didn’t break anything. I did trespass though, I guess.

edit to add: a lot of things here echo ye olde "ISIS jihadi from the UK" stories

this one is addressing one way how rule of law aims to decrease lynch mob formation, by planting in people's minds that those who can't control themselves will be punished: That the perp being sorry isn't enough, it's the deterrent effect for society:

oh lookit, great minds think alike!

Wednesday appear to show Mr. Mostofsky dressed in fur pelts and a bulletproof police vest, and holding a protective shield that belonged to the Capitol Police.

Mr. Mostofsky’s father is Kings County Supreme Court Judge Shlomo Mostofsky.

In a video taken inside the Capitol on Wednesday, Aaron Mostofsky told the New York Post: “We were cheated. I don’t think 75 million people voted for Trump — I think it was close to 85 million. I think certain states that have been red for a long time turned blue and were stolen, like New York.”

He faces four federal charges, including illegal entry into a restricted area, disorderly conduct and theft of government property.

Here's another story on the the Brooklyn Judge's boy Aaron, including a photo with the shield he stole from the police that got him slapped with $100K. Bet he has an Ivy League edjumaction and they all thought he'd grow up to be a nice doctor or lawyer:

and yet another story and photo--he finally got his wish about being just a regular kid with a street crew?

‘Our President Wants Us Here’: The Mob That Stormed the Capitol

They came from around the country with different affiliations — QAnon, Proud Boys, elected officials, everyday Americans — united by one allegiance.

    [....]

Kevin Haag, 67, a retired landscaper from North Carolina who ascended the Capitol steps as the crowd surged forward, said he did not go inside and disapproved of those who did. Even so, he said he would never forget the sense of empowerment as he looked down over thousands of protesters. It felt so good, he said, to show people: “We are here. See us! Notice us! Pay attention!”

Now, back home after several days of reflection, Mr. Haag, an evangelical Christian, wonders whether he went too far. “Should I get down on my knees and ask for forgiveness?” he said in an interview. “I am asking myself that question.”

But the experience seemed to have only hardened the resolve of others. Couy Griffin, 47, a Republican county commissioner from New Mexico, spoke of organizing another Capitol rally soon — one that could result in “blood running out of that building” — in a video he later posted to the Facebook page of his group, Cowboys for Trump.

    down to it.”

    [VIDEO  HERE NOT EMBEDDABLE}

Couy Griffin, a Republican county commissioner from New Mexico and organizer of the group Cowboys for Trump, said a future Capitol rally could have “blood running out of that building.”“You want to say that that was a mob? You want to say that was a violence? No, sir, no, ma’am, no. We could have a Second Amendment rally on those same steps that we had that rally yesterday. You know, and if we do, then it’s going to be a sad day, because there’s going to be blood running out of that building. But at the end of the day, you mark my word, we will plant our flag on the desk of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and Donald J. Trump, if it boils

"The Capitol Rioters Weren't 'Low Class'"

Somebody is using history to tell us something about today?   Weird.

Bellingcat is helping ID rioters - how's that make you feel?

BTW, I left some questions on your last post you prolly missed

    http://dagblog.com/link/what-progressive-realism-33564#comments

I ignored your questions because they had as little to do with my post as this comment of yours has to do with my comment you are supposedly responding to.

They questioned your article's claims on Ukraine, Syria and Libya - nothing could be more in-tooic. But you like ppl to just take your posts by fiat. Surprised you're not more if a Somoza fan.

Do you mean the claims in the article that Ukraine, Syria, and Libya, were not resounding successes?

Not my take on them at all - but Putin thought them successes - he's got troops in all 3.

I asked among other things where is defending civilians good, and when can Ukrainians shed their Colonialist uncle (and how relates to your Latin American politics). Try re-reading?

    http://dagblog.com/link/what-progressive-realism-33564#comments

You know, Lulu, this is pretty fucked up - i was careful to ask intelligent questions and avoid ad hominems, and ask something new rather than just regurgitating old complaints - which isn't easy on 5-10-year-old recycled events. You come to a blog to share your opinion, but it always comes out "accept my source's narrative, i can't discuss"

    (sorry, AA)

But the article was essentially about describing the differences between schools of thought while obviously giving evidence the author thought supported a different school than has predominated and was making a case for trying something different.  You seem offended that such thoughts could be suggested, much less promoted, at dagblog. That is real fucked up.

    John Sullivan/JaydenX long thread

    (sorry if repeat)

no I didn't post it before, thank you, is a fascinating complication.

actually people shouldn't worry if they are duping something. As long as it's relatively new item and they found it interesting, share it, why not?

Just like to sort of limit it to who the people are, stories about them, what they look like, what they've stated  publicly and on social media, their arrests, what they did at the Capitol, what they did before, their personalties, beliefs, family friends what they may be up to, etc. Maybe how they behave in court as long as it doesn't get too deep into legal, that should go elsewhere

(You know, the typical serial murderer true crime thing "but he was always just such a nice fellow, helped me shovel the walk!")

    On the question of bail

Yeah that's going to be a real problem.

Can I just say that lefties interested in reform of the criminal justice system, including many in the far left of the BLM movement, supported this type of thing strongly.

Bail reform changes have been a real problem in NYC already as far as the crime rate.

That former prosecutor Kamala Harris was tough about these kind of issues is one of the favorite reasons for far lefties to attack her.

No worries, if these guys cause any trouble while out, we can just call the social workers?

You keep repeating that, but that would be socialism, so wrong. Let them work it off through gun traiining or some other activity that helps the God-loving side of society, not these coddling feelings activities.

Let me take this opportunity to just warn ya that I will not be surprised if a few of the perps end up being far left Boogaloos anarchist types and this will renew the vigor of Laura Ingraham types to blame the whole thing on "the left" as she can then return to the classic spiel of "law and order Republicans." When in actuality, Liz Cheney is currently the head of the "law and order Republican" contingent. Trump IS an anarchist sympathizer, he did run for president intending to upend the GOP, but he did it only for personal attention; like Daisy & Tom Buchanan of Great Gatsy, it is not ideological.

Suffice it to say that I think it really stupid of anyone to label any stormers as Republicans, even "right-wing" is not the smartest label. They consist of Trump cultists being agitated by anarchists of violent intent. JUST "ANARCHISTS" not "right-wing extremists", using the latter is falling into a political spin trap. ("Hang Pence" is just one slogan from that gang that is a reminder.) And the only thing one should make the Republican party responsible for is pandering to Trumpism and enabling him to continue with his anarchic rule, or it will backfire.

Again, I will not be surprised if a few of agitators turn out to be left-wing anarchists, and the result will be stressing that they are all "antifa" and many on the right will buy in because of the cognitive dissonance about what Trump really was.

The reality is that the true believing anarchists are both far left and far right and they liked going with Trump's memes because he was basically anarchic: everyone looking out for #1 is great with him. Back sliding only when he'd fall into line with Barr's recommendations to go "law and order Republican" vs. big-city blue government in DC or Portland.

Extremism is the problem here. Anarchists are the problem.

Labeling them as "Republicans" is like labeling Timothy McVeigh a Republican.

A lot of mainstream Republicans in that crowd, even if by chance 2% end up being leftists, etc. No, it doesn't have to be 100% to be largely true. 74 million votes for Trump. Maybe 15,000 stormed the Capitol - largely the party and Donald's bastard children. Look at who was joining Parler for one - that mixed a crowd?

Going to extremes does have a life of its own, whatever the reasons cited for doing so. Nonetheless, I oppose labeling all actors who go there as anarchist.

If I were a white supremacist who wanted a polity that guaranteed my privilege based upon what I define as my race, "the anything goes" of anarchy is not an option. They are demanding that the instruments of state serve one group at the expense of others. That would require a lot of order to replace the existing one. Merely destroying the existing one is no guarantee of future results.

If what is meant by "far left" refers to the Lenin project to introduce a new social order after entirely getting rid of the previous one, that too, is not anarchy but what Lenin called the Dictatorship of the Proletariat.

I don't have any sympathy for anarchists but if I did, having to be seen as espousing one or another view of the ideal has to suck.

well on the militia folks, who may have been a lot of the instigators of actual violence, anti-government is the thing, they are not propounding much to replace it; her book title says it all:

The Seditionists: Inside the Explosive World of Anti-Government Extremism in America Hardcover – December 25, 2020

lots of the leaders have military or police backgrounds, where they got the false impression that they can take care of themselves and their near and dear just fine without any help (band of brothers) The old tyme wild west their favorite romantic fantasy, where your tribe helps you rebuild your barn if it burns. Ronnie's joke about "I'm from the Federal government and I'm here to help" their favorite line. No gummint.

That's what they practiced at the end of Occupy Wall Street, too: started out a mass movement and whittled way down to the dead enders practicing: we don't need no frigging gummint, it sucks. Let's get rid of all the authorities laws and politics and everyone will be free to be a de-escalating social worker.

Your point is well taken. It is the other half of what I am trying to say. Those who indulge in opposing government per se without saying anything more have not formed a predicate yet.

And if they have completed their sentences, it is to recommend more oppression.

    All the marginalized disempowered people.

A lot of them definitely are not that, that's the thing. The educated ones into Qanon type thinking are especially freaking me out. They're not wannabe anarchists with a passion and ideology and esprit de corps with a group (like perhaps the Brooklyn's judge's son upthread), they've just totally fallen into an alternate reality.

bingo. there's a reason that reward is so high, they need him, he's like a key to the puzzle of the true agitators and any planners as opposed to those who just prone to become a mob. It's a prosecution thing, otherwise they are just limited to the breaking and entering, vandalism and rioting charges and the like for most (except for those with clear evidence of attacking police). They can try higher charges, but they may fail without more evidence of conspiracy or motive. He could also be a key to congresspeople being prosecuted or not.

    1. scorysays:

      January 17, 2021 at 10:14 am

A million times, yes! I’m overseeing our Federal agency’s response to the SolarWinds cyberespionage incident, and many of my colleagues are still fixated on the initial compromise, not the secondary and tertiary effects of the incident. And when they start asking questions about “who” and “how” they assume that information is easily knowable. They don’t recognize that there are layers to opsec, situational awareness, and intelligence gathering and analysis.

If we learn anything from this, its that we need more critical and actively engaged people involved in physical and logical security who can see past the distractions and obvious.

These people must be taught and a clear message must be sent that even if they (mistakenly?) believe a politician, even the president, told them to break the law it's not exculpatory. DUMB AND DUMBER as regards retired fire fighter thomas Fee in the big selfie above::

A man sent his girlfriend’s brother a selfie while storming the Capitol, officials say. The brother is a federal agent.

    By Jaclyn Peiser @ WashingtonPost.com, Jan. 20, 2021 at 4:57 a.m. EST

When Thomas Fee got a text on Jan. 6 from his girlfriend’s brother asking if he was in Washington, he responded with a selfie inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda as dozens of others who had just stormed the building waved flags behind him, federal officials said.

In one message, Fee wrote he was “at the tip of the spear,” according to a criminal complaint filed Saturday.

But Fee’s girlfriend’s brother wasn’t asking out of simple curiosity — he is a special agent with the State Department. The agent, who isn’t identified in court documents, later turned the evidence over to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Fee, a recently retired New York firefighter with a history of racist complaints, surrendered in Queens on Tuesday morning, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District told the New York Post. He is charged with unlawful entry of the Capitol and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds [.....]

“Put your hand behind your head! Don’t move!” one of the agents screams as Fisher surrenders on the ground, the footage shows. The agents then cuff Fisher, who repeatedly exclaims, “what the f—k?”
