Pres Biden, in the longest news conference in presidential history, made news, pushed back on critics, called out lies, took responsibility for mistakes he believes he made, expressed surprise at GOP, talked foreign policy and didn't lash out on reporters.

Quite the change.
There is so much to say about Pres Biden's presser.
— Yamiche Alcindor (@Yamiche) January 19, 2022
The thing that sticks w/ me is that he took responsibility for mistakes he believes he made, expressed genuine frustration w/ COVID & his agenda being stalled by GOP and Democrats & took hard questions without insulting folks.

The intra-Palestinian meeting in Moscow has precedent
— Hanna Notte (@HannaNotte) February 29, 2024
Russia's hosted such meetings in the past, most recently Feb 2019
Russia has long lamented the US' "monopolization" of the peace process & tried to carve out a niche for itself: mediating among the disunited Palestinians/2

A mass expulsion of Afghan migrants could destabilize the region and fuel radicalization. The West should pressure Islamabad to change course.
All eyes on #Chad right now
Chad has two internet trunks coming into the country: One from the Red Sea via Sudan; the other from Cameroon. Not possible for the totality of the country's internet network to be shut unless done centrally. A lot of rumors swirling; few facts. https://t.co/N6bDJZ2ixO

Note: Biden is not surprised. Never. Yes, he's probably right he could have connected more (so could Obama, but people don't realize that, and COVID has limited outreach). Polls don't really measure how flimsy "opinions"/memes are in a wave of propaganda. Bush had 90% polling support for invading Iraq - that came tumbling down pretty goddamned fast.
Biden got the vaccines going after Bush dithered and pissed in the pool. And the Republicans incl Supreme Court fought his safety measures at every step - still only 2/3 vaxxed :-( We're very lucky Omicron isn't deadlier.
And i thought Joe was too senile to do a Fidel Castro-like press-a-thon? What else will the press bitch about now? (except Doocey - he never ceases to amaze)

really valuable service on digby's part; this is just one of those cases where one should watch at least a few video clips to get your own opinions on the context of his level of confidence and not just rely on text alone!
