Anne Frank as Literature

    http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/289227-1

Brilliant lecture about history & development of Anne Frank's opus I ran across last night - including how much she re-wrote it her last year, how many pages went into it that weren't seen from the original, and from the speaker's view most important, that almost no one's given the book credence as literature in its own right, including a need to view its prose as creativity, not just a document.

THE SKY IS PINK from JFOX on Vimeo. Essentially, this is an eighteen minute update to Gasland. Very much worth seeing.

    House

    Instead of fixing his teeth,

    going on a diet,

    and quitting the fantasy

    that he is

    sixteen again,

    he is obsessively

    projecting upon me

    imagined ills, like

A Shady Friday Afternoon at the Haiku-lodeon ...

    Stephen King's "The Red Throne"

Last week at KGB, four writers (including yours truly) read from the text of a lost Stephen King novel called "The Red Throne."  I wrote part three and, you'll all be shocked to know, Thomas Friedman is in it.

Check it out if you have a few minutes and could use a snicker.

I am taking another look at this parallel universe idea.

Now we have Lincoln the Vampire Killer.

This is after we had Barack Obama the Kenyan/Indonesian Socialist.

    Woodworking Auction

    There is a predatory notice

in the limbic eyes of an auction-goer:

Strike now! Take a chance with the drill-press-thing---

or is it a riveter or veneer slicer---

the attached shop light alone is worth the price.

    Honey Mustard Butter for Corn-on-the-Cob

I got the impression that our Mr Day has been enjoying corn-on-the-cob that has been in our markets late spring.  So I am going to pass on to him and dag readers a wonderful brush on butter that can add a little zest to corn.  There are many ways that this butter can be spiced up to your personal taste.  It is just a matter of looking in the spice cupboard at your favorite spices that you have on hand.  It also gives new life to frozen corn-on-the-cob.

    Who's watching what where

How good are you at guessing what TV shows are popular where?  I was surprised by some of what AdAge's two new interactive maps revealed.

Top Network Shows by County Type

Top Cable TV Shows by County

Counties have been assigned descriptive demographic labels like Boom Town, Tractor Country, Moneyed Burbs, Minority Central, Evangelical Epicenters, Service Worker Centers, Immigration Nation, etc.  It's a marketing site.
