It's hard to see who the Brits feel specifically obligated to if not themselves, but there's a feeling of "this is what we set out to do, so we'll go ahead and do it", no matter how many lies and distortions were used to get that deal signed.
We shouldn't scoff - we're largely in the same place with Trump and his <50% election that many of his wishful followers seem to have been deceived on, but now an amazing number continue to back him and rationalize their continuing evolving support, requiring even more distortions of reality and daily news.
We seem to be winning, but in the end it's a question of "winning what?" 2 weeks in Philadelphia?

Crikey, you got them pegged, mate. Stiff upper lip! Keep calm and carry on, and sooner or later, we'll come up trumps (no pun intended), no need to make a song and dance about it, what's done is done.
