WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - A 15-year veteran of the U.S. Capitol Police has taken his life after responding to Wednesday's deadly riot in the halls of Congress.
Howard Liebengood was 51 years old.
It's the second life lost in four days for Capitol Police following the death of Officer Brian Sicknick, who suffered injuries during the Capitol riot.

Republicans use police, and fetuses, as campaign props. They could care less about them.

II got more on the hypocrisy front from Trump & his cult:
this is on the other one for whom he took a long time agreeing to lower the White House flag to half staff:
and speaking of flags--

Add the flag to the list of GOP campaign props that they care nothing about, except to use to divide the country.

I still think you err in equating "the GOP" with the Trump cult and related populist movements.
Conservative Christians, for example are not going to go with the chant of "Hang Mike Pence!" and many others are genuinely offended by disrespecting the flag as well as the people's house.
Yeah, sure plenty of the politicians running in the GOP cyncially manipulate all these culture wars things--support the troops to Freedom fries--but if you believe all Republican voters are on board with the Jan. 6 insurgency once they learn more on it, you're only deluding yourself. It's not going to be that way, there really is a split. The GOP split going forward after so many have been indoctrinated into Trump cult fantasy world, is the most important thing. Biden has to navigate it, and to complicate things, the situation is being manipulated right now by extremists with varying agendas. It's educated elites from GOP that would go with Biden against this movement. That's bad as it will just leave all those angry working class Trumpies doubly mad. How populist to go is the question .
(calm them all down right now with $2,000 checks is an ingenious temp. solution, but do GOP elites see that? nope!)

The great mass of the republicans weren't down with even turning out for the Jan 6 rally let alone the riot. There were 500 thousand at the anti-Trump women's march, 30 thousand at the Jan 6 rally.

more copied from my posting it on your last news thread of Saturday:
One of the Cap Police who was there committed suicide yesterday:

"More than 50 members of the U.S. Capitol Police were injured, including 15 who required hospitalization, most of them with head wounds, according to Representative Tim Ryan, Democrat of Ohio.
Of all the scenes of violence, one of the most intense occurred during a struggle to breach a west-side door, during which multiple rioters dragged police officers out of a formation and assaulted them while they were trapped in the crowd....". link
Trump said " you're very special, we love you, fight like hell"
