Actually, the East Coasters were the conservative work-ethic folk back in the early 1900s. The socialist types were bred in the radical "Western" states like Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas. Which just goes to show that "cultural inheritance" is big stinking pile of BS.
