After winning the Republican nomination, the first thing.....pardon me but I am verklempt.....they wanted to discuss with the Putin mob lawyer was the Russian orphans... Saint Sean Hannity please Bless them....
Wapo comment: mmmmmmmmmmhmm. I'll bet you primarily discussed adoption. I can see the need for Manafort and Kushner at a meeting about adopting kids. And where does that program stand now?
I get it, we need a Russian back channel to adopt poor Russian kids.
Now it makes sense.
by NCD on Sun, 07/09/2017 - 12:21pm
Adoption? It was about loosening travel sanctions on internationally wanted Russian criminals in exchange for letting halted adoptions continue - ugly quid pro quo, and Jared & Don Jr. are up to their balls in it.

And the CIA has a Jared Kushner double.....next on Infowars.
by NCD on Sun, 07/09/2017 - 3:25pm
Somewhere the story gets sourced as three WH aides--I'm thinkin Bannon, Steve Miller and then, who? Bannon has been opening up a torrent of leaks on Kushner, and I guess if he's willing to get into a pissing match (Donald Trump "You say that like it was a BAD thing!...) with Kushner, (and by extension Ivanka) then why not Uday (or is it Qusay--which is the dumb one?)

This Russian lawyer was also connected to Russian mob money laundering in NYC and Florida real estate. Preet Baharra, the DA Trump fired, had a conviction related to this group's financial crimes. see NYT.
by NCD on Sun, 07/09/2017 - 3:22pm
If NYC, Preet's still working on it, but at state level with Schneiderman.

Jared who lied to FBI was @G20 - how? How does he have a security clearance? And his loans from China? and his search for new Chinese hotel investors? And what's his wife's involvement in that, including the trademarks China let her have for what exactly? And other family members trying to sell expensive visas to rich Chinese for a big cut? And now we know Jared was meeting with Russians *in Trump Tower* to get dirt on Clinton (along with Donald Jr and Manafort undoubtedly with Trump Sr's knowledge...???
Start the clock to midnight, but we need Pence's part in thus - that bastard's more dangerous than Donald.
by PeraclesPlease on Sun, 07/09/2017 - 8:05pm
Trumpanzees have elected a family of frauds and traitorous grifters.
Everything - literally everything - in this deceitful Administration echoes a homing beacon going back to Russia, Russian money, Russian loans, Russian banks, Russian lawyers, Trump advisors to Russian connected people/organizations, Russian intelligence, Russian electoral subversion, Russian wikileaks, Russia's president, Russian oligarchs, Russian deals, Russian hookers...
by NCD on Sun, 07/09/2017 - 9:14pm
Plus Chinese criminal connex still to be explored, but yeah, quite the array of strings, no mere puppet show - it's more like the Bolshoi combined with Tolstoï
by PeraclesPlease on Mon, 07/10/2017 - 1:20am
No worries, then. We'll impeach Pence too, and then Ryan is President, wait, what??

What nonsense - Foxconn is global and the only "wooing" will be big tax breaks that kill any huge advantage. Someone who's serious is wooing a dozen companies.
by PeraclesPlease on Mon, 07/10/2017 - 12:54pm
Big corporate entities like states with good educational resouces, decent transit, and are well-run so that their employees are happy and they can recruit. Wisconsin is broken due to republican malfeasance.

there were two statements according to the update by the NYT,
looks to me like
before legal consultation:
after legal consultation:
I am trying to look big picture, and stop flying to conspiracizing after every revelation; I think Kevin Drum gets it. What is illegal about explanation #2? Where does it take us? Where's the gotcha? They are going to come up with something like this every time...
More and more I see the whole Russian collusion thing as leading to something like Whitewater rather than Watergate. Dragging on and on and boring most of the population. The firing of James Comey still seems to be the main trouble. Bush family had lots of suspicious contacts with the Saudis, and they got elected 3 times.
And more and more there seems to be more potential for ending his presidency in the area of emoluments, or even the dementia thing, then this. Russia collusion pre-election seems to be spinning wheels, lots of conspiracizing, not much gotcha. Meantime there's lots of court cases against him/them already. It's what he's doing since the election, not what he was doing to get elected, is what people are going to care about.
by artappraiser on Mon, 07/10/2017 - 12:55pm
Sorry, you don't get to choose the best version in court. Pick the applicable laws that were broken and the most dambing statements made - that's where the investigation *starts*. Don Jr heard the Russians had dirt on Hillary and got *BOTH* Donald's campaign heads to show up in the busy period 2 days after she clinched the nomination. They knew there was stolen data. They knew there are laws against foreign support in an election. Kushner and Manafort both lied about this on federal declaration forms. These are pretty well known facts. That Donald Sr likely knew, that there was probably a quid-pro-quo offered related to sanctions - these have to be proven, but not a large stretch. We're not in conspiracy theory territory - there *was* a conspiracy, and investigators and the participants themselves are simply revealing the details and trying to figure out how much further it went.
by PeraclesPlease on Mon, 07/10/2017 - 4:54pm
I'm with Kevin Drum on this (including what he says about Hillary, BTW.)
by artappraiser on Mon, 07/10/2017 - 12:01am
Kevin's awfully forgiving - like 20 people in Trump's immediate circle have been doing business in Moscow eager for bucks plus that campaign shyster Roger Stone. Giuliani was bragging on TV about it. These are little boys with money and influence they lost all sense of having to be careful, and the fact that it's taken more than a year makes it sadly obvious how easily the bunch could have gotten away with it and the whole establishment including the establishment press would have played along because Hillary, emails, both sides do it, suck it up she was aa damaged candidate, America's voting is safe and can't be hacked, general acceptance of gerrymandering and a crooked voter denying playing field, etc. So much intrinsic blindness built into the system, we're largely saps waiting to be had.
ETA - Russian attorney swore she doesnt speak English, so a additional translator at least was in the room. Drip drip drip indeed.
ETAA - at what point do Koch Brothers with 70% of Whote House *also* equal Russia? GOP has sold its soul for power, plain and simple. Faust would be impressed.
by PeraclesPlease on Mon, 07/10/2017 - 1:31am
The fact that Trump's actions are being treated as "just another day in the U.SA." again suggests to me that the republic is already lost.

Worth following how this gets handled:

Lawyer Who Met With Trump Jr. Has Ties To Russian Government, July 10
Which also notes this:
Trump Jr. has hired attorney Alan Futerfas to represent him, Reuters reported.
The latter was an exclusive this afternoon and says he is a sole practitioner who specializes in criminal defense in NY
by artappraiser on Mon, 07/10/2017 - 8:07pm
Criminal defense attorney Trump Jr has hired, Futerfas, has represented members of Gambino, Colombo and Genovese families.
- He obviously comes highly recommended
