Guy Raz speaks with Portland, Ore., Mayor Sam Adams who today ordered the Occupy protesters in his city out of their encampments by 12:01 a.m. Sunday. The move comes after he wrote an open letter to the protesters, saying their living conditions were unsustainable.
Comments
Though the mayor sounds sympathetic to the cause, he says increasing associated crime and drug overdoses makes it impossible for him to allow the occupation to continue.
But it turns out Karl Rove's organization in Massachusetts is using related themes in a culture war against Elizabeth Warren as an OWS supporter with attack ads with menacing music and unflattering images from the protest in the background, a narrator warns that OWS is made up of “extreme left protesters” who “attack police, do drugs and trash public parks."
The security problems of Occupy groups appear to be growing as an issue.
