Russia provided additional details Friday of what it said were agreements made at the presidential summit in Helsinki this week, shaping a narrative of the meeting with no confirmation or alternative account from the Trump administration.
Not surprisingly, the Russian story line tended to favor the Kremlin’s own policy prescriptions, at times contradicting stated administration strategy.

The Worst Security Risk in U.S. History
No one knows what President Trump told Vladimir Putin in Helsinki—or why even his own national-security adviser was excluded from the room.

Someone knows all the answers to these question. I have seen enough spy movies to know that a tiny device was sewn into trump’s suit. We already know that Putin knowingly had the same kind of thing. The only problem might be that all they recorded was feedback from the other’s device.
so why is it presented as, “We don’t know.” I simply don’t believe it! Surely all those in the Intelligence Community would not let this idiot go in for this meeting without knowing exactly what went down.
Does anyone here actually believe that our intelligence people would be content to stay in the dark about this?

The theory I put forward in another place is that since only one of the participants has a clear recollection of the meeting (excluding translators, of course), the event may as well be a figment of Putin's imagination.
If someone did record it on the American side, it is not a viable starting point for any policy because of its provenance.
We could have known what happened but somebody TiVo'd Cheers during that time period and the episode is now lost.

How U.S. intelligence agencies can find out what Trump told Putin

A top-secret Special Collection Service has extraordinary capabilities to hoover up intel from foreign adversaries.

I disagree with the following: " We’ve let the Russians shape, publicly and privately, what was allegedly agreed to in the meeting,” said Harrell, “with no coherent ability for the U.S. to push back.”
Nobody in the U.S. administration knows what happened so nothing happened. A date was circled on the calender but no event occurred. Nobody showed up because it was not a public event. If a tree falls in a Siberian forest and no chipmunk was there to witness the event, then it is just the idea of an event.
The only sensible response is to look at the Russian counterparts and ask: What meeting?

Good point which got me thinking in addition to that both of these guys really like to manipulate what people think, play games with people's heads. So I can imagine Putin saying to a political aide or to an oligarch buddy: we should do this thing or that thing because the idiot Trump thinks this or because Trump said that or would do that. And Putin might not be telling the truth that Trump did say that. It was to the benefit of the power play games both like to play to meet without anyone else there, as then they can just make stuff up about the other. Was really just for the benefit of each other and not their countries, just to get a better sense of what games they can play? Without a record or witnesses it is not official anything. Is like a husband and wife after divorce where she says "but you promised me this many times" and he says "oh yeah? prove it." Pillow talk! No proof, just useful knowledge for the two involved. Acting like spies themselves, trying to figure each other out.

Pillow talk is friendly. But things get really chummy when you have a locker room talk.

Alternative Facts are truth,
The One knows he's right.
Half-naked Tsar and an ass ...
Weird Helsinki history.

It would be less weird
if sharing a world in time
was where we started.
Once you fool with that viewpoint
there is no place left to think.

There is a place left;
A place we can find to think.
It's called November.
Sharing a world in time ... yes.
Sharing a world in tandem.

lo and behold we have a new alternative narrative. I must admit I did not expect something so blatant, he always tops himself:

That was the one I already gave you - if Trump was an agent he'd be blasting Putin in a show trial. Just Donald doesn't act veey well.

I am imagining (my bad of course not being factual) the little brain working hard just before a big speech to the fans and to the VFW, he's got to inspire them to get out and vote in midterm elections, this is getting serious now, no more fooling around.
by artappraiser on Tue, 07/24/2018 - 2:27pm
If the ignoramus can even read he might have picked up that narrative by reading at "The Hill".

Godless liberal Blue Wave win this November can ONLY happen because of Russian hacking and TOTAL CONTINUED RUSSIAN SUPPORT OF THE WEAK PUPPET DEMOCRATS.!!!
IT WILL FINALLY PROVE NO COLLUSION..!!!! END the WITCH HUNT!!!
MAGA!!
by NCD on Tue, 07/24/2018 - 2:31pm
NCD's off his meds again - someone hook him to the defibrillator. Fortunately he has a pretty good 'script and insurance plan, so this doesn't happen too often. And someone TAPE DOWN HIS GODDAMN CAPS LOCK - he's gonna hurt himself, plus break the blog.
by PeraclesPlease on Tue, 07/24/2018 - 2:38pm
I suspect you may be incorrectly and unnecessarily fearing that the actor has lost control of The Method and gone too deep into character. I am seeing evidence of careful control over the enactment: note that there are four rather than three exclamation points after "collusion".
by artappraiser on Tue, 07/24/2018 - 2:49pm
Ever seen Total Recall where our "Method Actor" goes too far down the rabbit hole, e.g. "Consider that a Divorce!!!!" (yes, with 4 exclamations). And here's like NCD doing "method acting" - any more unhinged and they'd be inviting him to Helsinki.
by PeraclesPlease on Tue, 07/24/2018 - 3:19pm
Trump is just preparing a Russian Dem election conspiracy connection for The Base for use if the GOP loses in November. Hannity will back him up.
Yes. The Base will take the bait.
by NCD on Tue, 07/24/2018 - 2:59pm
Are these baseball or fly-fishing or Star Wars analogies? I'm getting confused. "Fish or cut bait"? "Return to The Base"? "Bass is loaded with 2 (lines) out"? or maybe some Ace of Base.... "all that Trump wants is some more crazy...he's got to have it"
by PeraclesPlease on Tue, 07/24/2018 - 3:28pm
That's it. It seems like a ridiculous statement (aka tweet) to the rest of us, but although he's flipping his did-they-didn't-they/are they-aren't they narrative once again his base not only won't care, they'll focus on the Democrats, and be immediately suspicious. So if a "blue wave" happens ...
