The intra-Palestinian meeting in Moscow has precedent
— Hanna Notte (@HannaNotte) February 29, 2024
Russia's hosted such meetings in the past, most recently Feb 2019
Russia has long lamented the US' "monopolization" of the peace process & tried to carve out a niche for itself: mediating among the disunited Palestinians/2

Location: U.S. Embassy and residential compounds
Events: Heavy gunfire is occuring around the area of the U.S. Embassy and residential compounds adjacent to the Trutier area of Tabarre. All Embassy personnel have been instructed to remain indoors and shelter-in-place until further notice. All others should avoid the area.
Actions to take:
- Avoid the area;
- Avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people;
- Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and
- If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.

A mass expulsion of Afghan migrants could destabilize the region and fuel radicalization. The West should pressure Islamabad to change course.
All eyes on #Chad right now
Chad has two internet trunks coming into the country: One from the Red Sea via Sudan; the other from Cameroon. Not possible for the totality of the country's internet network to be shut unless done centrally. A lot of rumors swirling; few facts. https://t.co/N6bDJZ2ixO

It's wild that Venezuela is now holding a vote on whether 2/3 of Guyana actually belongs to them! Analysts suggest that Modoru may want military action to pump up his sinking popularity.

"McConnell could call a vote on a motion to dismiss.."
Instead of never starting, McConnell could end the "trial" in minutes, passing it off as a partisan witch hunt, and what about Biden taking billions out of China, and the Clinton Foundation?

It's one thing to just deep-six it - quite another to call a vote.
Even if they can kind of hid their vote, voters in their districts will have their revenge.
So even a motion to dismiss should garner much more support than the lockstep GOP backing Trump currently.

Strikes me that this is why the Dems have to make sure it is a really big shew, with a clear simple narrative, Ed Sullivan style, that a lot of the country will be watching.
He gets away with doing what he does because it's just not that common for people to pay attention to what Congress is doing. It's got to be a kabuki show, and then he can't get away with it.
(Comes to mind John McCain got how to play this whole thing with his game-changing vote on Obamacare. He knew plenty of people were watching that one.)

Another factor is that narrowing the focus of the charges allows a way out of larger circles of incrimination.
For the time being, much information is being sequestered behind the firewall of executive privilege with Barr actively damming the river. If that dam were to break, many GOP secret dealings would be revealed at the same time.
The whistleblower has offered an exit strategy for them to act against Trump before the worst is revealed.
