President Trump announced Thursday that he would offer a full pardon to conservative author and documentary filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza, who pleaded guilty in 2014 to violating federal campaign finance laws.
D’Souza was indicted on charges that he illegally used straw donors to contribute to a Republican Senate candidate in New York in 2012. He was sentenced to five years of probation, including eight months living under supervision in a “community confinement center” in San Diego, and a $30,000 fine.

A different modern-day GOP political principle than the one illustrated with the D'Souza news item--one must destroy the village in order to save it http://www.thisdayinquotes.com/2010/02/it-became-necessary-to-destroy-to... is in evidence in this morning's WaPo as George Will seeks to shore up his base in "Mitch McConnell is winning the long game": https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/mitch-mcconnell-is-winning-the-l...
It all depends on one's definition of what constitutes "winning", I suppose.

Depends on what constitutes "the best economy in 18 years", as even by the US News doc that George Will references, performance is pretty iffy and results exaggerated. Guess George is still willing to play partisan stupidity.

It also depends on the game being played and what constitutes "long" as a time frame. To each his own.
