They were apparently leaked by another organization, maybe Assange's rival. Wikileaks caught wind, and ended the embargo on the files he'd given to the other papers.

Gosh; it turns out the detainees weren't quite such High Value Targets as they led us to believe. Turns out, it took them perhaps two years to interview Abu Zabaydah. Emptywheel is seeing plenty of contradictions in the reports. Fascinating. Or not.
