The shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh -- in which the death toll now stands at 11 -- is believed to be the deadliest attack on the Jewish community in the history of the US, the Anti-Defamation League said.
Trump at Incitement Rally today, Indiana: Trump jokes that he considered canceling speech, not b/c of the mass shooting in Pittsburgh, but b/c his hair got wet while talking w/reporters about the shooting. "I said, 'maybe I should cancel this arrangement b/c I have a bad hair day.'"

If as seems likely on this occasion he acted as a normal human being, good. It was right to praise him for that.
Now if we could believe it was habit forming .........

Part of being a conman is being able to be charming. The late Maya Angelou had a great quote:
When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. Maya Angelou

Chalk it up as "The banality of decency".
Term used (see below) to describe the post-war trials of Italian Nazi collaborators and war criminals, who often could produce favorable testimony by people they had treated "normally or decently".

Levi lucked out. His scientific training saved him in the camps by getting him a protected assignment .
After they were freed the good natured Russian guards took a train load of them on an endless train journey to nowhere. In the process of which the guards on one occasion put on a variety show for the freed prisoners.
For his part, Schindler before heading West with some prisoners to tell the (amazing ) story-in Yiddish to a GI, first gathered both the German guards and the Jewish prisoners and told them to just cool it for a few days until someone came to "liberate" them . And they all did.
Civilized actions ,in the midst of its absence.
If someone leads the way.
They'd just been able to stave off starvation until the Russians arrived. Twenty years later in an LA book store Dunleavy asked one of the prisoners whether Schindler ate the same food.. "What , Oscar ? Shared that food? " Laughing.
The right attitude. Risked his life to save 300 prisoners for 6 years but no way to skip a good meal. Nor was it expected of him .
Nor of his skipping the occasional sojourn in the water tank under the factory roof. With an attractive warder.
