All Hail The People Of Iran!

I cannot but admire the courage and guts of the people of Iran as I view the pictures of them peacefully assembling in the face of violent repression.  Young and old, male and female they march by the thousands and are being beaten, arrested, and even killed.

I admire their willingness to literally stand and fight for their right to vote and to have that vote counted.

Americans can learn from the Iranian people.  Their rights were trampled and their votes stolen and did they simply sit at home and watch tv?  No!  They are in the streets declaring that they will not tolerate their rights being ignored.  Under their law they have the right to elect a President.  They know very well that the election results were fraudulent and they are unwilling to simply accept that their rights are meaningless.  Where would America be today if, in the wake of the unconstitutional intervention of the Republican majority on the Supreme Court, had we the courage, and the willingness the Iranians have demonstrated?

All hail the people of Iran!  May God be with them in their hour of need!

    Point

And tbeir leader is fighting and willing to be made a martyr...

I look at that and think when the american people have the will... they will get single payer healthcare. We have bought into our own helplessness/powerlessness for too long... too easily manipulated by comfort and fear...

    To the people of Iran!

I did some figuring using some admittedly wildly optimistic parameters and came up with the following result:

Number of votes cast = 35,000,000

Number of votes counted and tabulated by a single counter per hour = 360

Number of hours elapsed from end of election until final results were announced = 12.

Number of vote counters required to correlate with the above = (approximately) 8,100,000.

Are the people in Iran the only ones who can do simple math? This shit should be going viral!

I might be able to spare some emotional space to admire the Iran protesters if my feelings weren't so overwhelmed today by a sense of horror and foreboding.

This mess in Iran could easily spin out of control. The US currently has many troops in two neighboring countries. And there are four countries with nuclear weapons right in Iran's neighborhood.

When the French had a revolution, it resulted in years of internal terror, followed by an attempted military conquest of much of Europe. The last time the Iranians had a revolution, the results were profound.

I know many of these protesters sincerely believe they were ripped off. But since we will probably never know what actually happened in the election, who can say?

May Allah, Jesus and Jahova be with the Iranians in the quest to become part of the new world.

    Great post Oleeb.
