Fall of cartoons in America:Why it's bad

Face it. Most of the TV airing on networks sucks right now. With all the shows like "Survivor", "Jersey Shore", and other trash, it has been going downhill. So many good channels that I liked have gone bad.

There are two I'd like to discuss: Cartoon Network, and Toon Disney. Cartoon Network was established in the '90's by Ted Turner, and was the first network to show all cartoons. The shows ranged from Scooby-Doo to Cow and Chicken and to anime.

In 1995, Cartoon Network decided to set up Toonami, a timeslot that was between the hours of 4-7. Its main purpose was to show anime, along with the occasional Superman or Batman the Animated series. I grew up centered around Toonami. Toonami was amazing, because not only were the shows good, you had a friendly robot who hosted the shows who would talk to you and it felt like you were talking to a good friend. Here's one of Toonami's promos.

The shows I remember the most were Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Outlaw Star. Later on, they moved to Saturdays and showed shows like Yugi-oh, etc.

As for Cartoon Network itself, let me say this. So long as the network had an icon that said "CARTOON NETWORK"  in all caps, that was the golden age. When it abbreviated things, something bad had happened.

They started taking anime off, and removing perfectly good shows like Billy and Mandy, and now this is what you have instead of Toonami or Billy and Mandy. Crap like this doesn't belong on Cartoon Network. Give me back my Toonami and Tom. Also, give me Courage the Cowardly Dog back, too.

How can a network that was so good become a pile of trash? How is stuff like building things and destroying it even real? Compared to shows like, oh I don't know, Rurouni Kenshin, where I learned so much about samurai, and how there isn't always a happy ending? I think Toonami taught kids so much.

Like this. Now, kids are learning that it's okay to act like a spoiled brat who is foul-mouthed, and get away with it. I've never watched Cartoon Network any more.

Now, on to Toon Disney. Toon Disney was basically a collection of old Disney Cartoons that most people didn't see before. Although it also contained classics like Recess, Digimon, and the Proud Family.

Toon Disney is now Disney XD. An even crappier version of a once awesome network.

What can I say? TV is dead. There's no changing that. Reality shows don't really teach you much, but I learned all my values from anime and books.

I get my anime fix at hulu now.  Sometimes at animeultima.tv Yeah. I'm hooked.

Animefreak is good. Ever watch Fruits Basket?

    =D

I loved Fruits Basket!  I resisted for a long time because I thought it was a stupid title.  Shows what I know, eh? Laughing  Bamboo Blade has a similar feel to it.  Resisted that one for a while, too.
