How To Get The Attention Of DC Democrats? Next Time You Get A Fundraising Call Just Say: NO!

It's very difficult for us little people to get the attention of our oh so wise and "pragmatic" leaders who believe they must compromise away any benefits for the common man and woman in order to tweak the health insurance system in this country.  One simple and quite effective way to ge their attention is easy, simple and fun.  Next time the Democrats interrupt your dinner with a fundraising call just say no.

Tell the poor underpaid schmuck on the phone to please write down that you will not send one more penny to the Democratic Party or it's candidates unless they pass a real healthcare reform bill that at minimum includes a strong public option.  Tell them that you aren't about to reward their cowardice with more money unless and until they accomplish what they were elected to accomplish on healthcare reform.

Believe me, you will feel better and the call won't take very long at all.  Once the "no, no and Hell no!" responses start piling up on the fundraising consultant's desk I can assure you the Democrats tune will begin to change.  But unless and until they think the well might be drying up for them they will continue to service the special interest needs of the insurance parasites and laugh all the way to the bank.

This is somethig we can all do that sure can't hurt and just might help get the attention of those pathetic cowards we call DC Democrats.

Nice job, Oleeb! Except I say don't wait for them to call:

Call your Democrats and tell them what we'll do if they continue to waver. And what we'll do is: refuse to contribute to or campaign for them.

I figure the "Green Panthers"--the principled, energetic progressives who campaigned hard for Democratic politicians in the last election delivered many more votes than their own.

Point out to these reps that if they're going to try so hard to get the approval of Republicans at the expense of progressive Democrats, they might as well try to get Republicans to work on their campaigns and vote for them in the next election. Make it very clear that deciding to actively support Green Panther (formerly "Progressive") initiatives will be good for them--procrastinating or refusing to support us will cost them votes when votes count the most.

Harry Reid can't do all the kitten-herding himself!

If, like me, you also get e-mails almost daily from the DNL, DSCC, DCCC and OFA, you can "reply" to them with the same message. [No, I didn't "unsubscribe" myself from these lists, just so I could send messages like this one!]

Sometimes they make it a little difficult: the return address on their message to you is a "do not reply," but just use a little of that time & ingenuity you used to devote to rounding up voters for Obama and figure out how to get a missive back to them. It's not too hard.

I also inform them that I won't be sending $$$ that they can then dole out to Blue Dog losers like Heath Schuler. My funds will instead be going directly to Progressive Democrats via ActBlue.

Perhaps at some point they will get the message.

Any letters from the DNC, DCCC or DSCC to me get shredded as fast as they came in.

And any calls from the DSCC asking for money to go to Senators that I know to be Blue Dog Republicans lead to a conversation to the caller in which I tell him/her I do not contribute to Republicans.

For some reason, the caller seems baffled.

I've done this also but still get the letters and calls.
