One of the best shows of all time is undoubtedly Star Trek. I've been kind enough to offer a few links that represent Roddenberry's love of humankind above all else.
In this episode, Data is led back to his homeland and his evil side, Lore is revealed as well.
Comments
Data has always been one of my favorite characters (Spock a close second, but for different reasons). Data's constant desire to learn what it is to be human is endearing, and gives us all a pretty cool perspective from which to see ourselves.
Being into astrology, his habit of telling it like it is reminds me very much of some Sagittarius friends I know and love. His love of music and art, of course, reminds me of my fellow Librans and Tauruses (Taureans?) who are touched by Venus. His dual nature (humanistic, machine) calls to mind the Gemini twins....I could go on and on. But the fact remains that Data is just as complex as us humans are, and just as endearing as a child.

In general, though, I've always loved the message that Gene Roddenberry was getting out there with this show. The overall message being (to me, anyway), that Earth could be united enough to be represented by one government, with all of our class struggles and border warfare a thing of the past. The replicator being almost (if I were religious) the manna that God promised in the Old Testament. Everyone could eat, no one would want. Our face, our image, seen by aliens, would be one of a peaceful planet.

This is why we ask “Let your kingdom come”
The only way this becomes a reality, even if it was posible under mans rule, everyone would have to give up the idea of independent thinking. The sooner this happens the faster we get the benefits.
Independent; ……… refusing to be under obligation to others.
We need one law for the whole planet, to achieve what Star trek portrayed.
Harmony ......—Synonyms
1. concord, unity, peace, amity, friendship. 2. consonance, conformity, correspondence, consistency
With one law; with one purpose; to make the Earth a paradise for all inhabitants.

You know what, Resistance? I wouldn't have a problem with that. I really wouldn't.
But under one condition: We all have unity, peace, friendship, concord based solely on the desire to have such, and not based upon some unknown being telling us we should have it.

New York's answer to the Mustang Ranch, but with cats.

E. Spitzer, proprietor...
I had a friend who had worked at the Mustang, (their tax returns listed as occupation: "entertainer" which certainly was not a misstatement....) they were regarded as the best credit risks in Nevada, having a more or less guaranteed income stream--she used to get three credit cards solicitations in the mail each week.

Good luck with that, You've had only 6000 years to get it accomplshed.
How much longer do you figure it'll take? Many people are suffering because of mankinds injustice.
I personally don't put much faith in mankind, to bring about the needed changes of
Desire is not enough.
I hope it happens before, the man caused Global climatic dysfunction, puts an end to the future prospects of such a grand goal. ......Maybe we can get the Nukes under control, before someone screws up the works? ......Or some man-made biological weapon, doesn't end life as we know it on the planet?
I figure, the great unknown, as you call him; is just waiting till humans realize, they destroyed it all by themselves and they've reached the point of no return, all by themselves.
Will they then say
Just as you promised.
As soon as mankind recognizes, they really couldn't do it without him. Although they tried, they just couldn't make it happen
Then will we ask, what is your WAY, to achieve what we all desire?
Then will they cry; GOD HELP US?
by Resistance on Sat, 02/12/2011 - 3:30am
Maybe.
Or maybe this planet of ours will just explode due to man's evil doings, or a sun burst, or lack of water, or....who knows? A combination?
by LisB on Sat, 02/12/2011 - 3:54am
He promises, He will not let the planet be completely destroyed. .....The planet will continue to sustain life, as planned.
The planet has been damaged, but not unreparable.
by Resistance on Sat, 02/12/2011 - 4:16am
Ah, but you believe in a "He" who promises. I just look at what we have, and know it's not sustainable unless we work very hard right now to start fixing things.
by LisB on Sat, 02/12/2011 - 4:24am
I agree, we need to be fixing things now, I am afraid we are missing the opportunity.
Because we can't stop the madness and the madness is about to consume us,
That's when the intervention occurs.
by Resistance on Sat, 02/12/2011 - 4:32am
Well then let's hope that we can all work together towards a peaceful intervention. Man-made. Eh?

This is what is so disheartning about the Tea Party as Richard Day points out
They want the end to come NOW, They don't want to work for a solution.
Why would anyone want to see that frightful day NOW ;except someone spiritually sick?
Sure there's a bright day tommorow, but who wants to have to live those frightful days, today?
by Resistance on Sat, 02/12/2011 - 4:55am
Apparently, people who think they have more backbone and stamina than they do patience and love.

Not to mention....understanding.
