Repbulicans Talking About the "Likely Obama Victory": Clever Tactic?

I've been following the reports of Romney and other Republicans seeing a "likely" Obama victory next week.  I've been hearing the right-wing talkers harping about the same "foregone conclusion."  And, I've been watching the increasingly-excited comments from fellow Democrats.

It doesn't superstitiously scare me.  But, I am thinking that many people are not catching the same vibe as I am, that it may be  - whether consciously or subconsciously - a clever tactic by McCain-supporters and Obama-detractors. (More and more Republicans seem to - again -be proclaiming their dislike for McCain, but that's another story)

I think that many of the Republican "proclamations" about an Obama victory are coming with that dire warning about "one-party rule".  And, I think that that dire warning is resonating with more independents and wavering Republicans than is being measured right now.  So, to make that argument, they have to concede that Obama is on his way to victory.

Not only may that warning benefit McCain, but it also will likely benefit the McConnell's and other Republican candidates who are sinking below their expected vote levels.  Further, it may have the effect of prompting some Democrats to coast to the finish line.

Sure, it is probably dangerous because it might prompt some of their people to not work as hard on GOTV and limp to the finish line.  But, it may be the best shot they have at picking up some points going into next Tuesday.

(P.S.  So, let's stop morphing Romney's e-mails and Palin's words into waving the checkered flag for Obama, and let's put the pedal to the metal.)
