    Today is World AIDS Day.

    Wolfrum’s Word

    Part of my morning was spent at the dentist, so there won’t be as much to report today. That said, today is World AIDS Day. As much as ever before, we need to focus on this disease, that is affecting our youth more than ever.

    Of late, it seems the fear of AIDS has dissipated somewhat. It shouldn’t. It remains a horrifying disease with no cure. Protect yourselves. All of you.

    I miss my friend and I wish she had lived long enough to be able to take advantage of the meds they have to manage HIV. She died in 1995, her quilt, the one I made still floats around the country, I look at the things she left for me every day. She didn't get the opportunity to be in this world for long enough and there has been a hole in the psyche of the world with her loss. She told me she was infected in 1989. Back then, it was bad, her parents basically disowned her. It hurt her, I think it helped shorten her life, stress can have that affect. So yesterday late afternoon, I wandered into Seattle and gathered with the others, said a prayer and thought about Sue.  I still miss her, I really do.
