Well Al, you really stepped in it, and you made me laugh hard. I always think you old guys will learn, you know, understand the public, even a little bit, but you don't do you? You old white guys are just plain out of touch with what it is to live in America as a regular person. And as much as you try, you just don't get it, do you. Will you all ever come around, will you ever get it? Listen up, I am going to tell you a few things you really need to know.

So Al I read you were born in 1931, wow, you look pretty good for 79 years, but the world has changed, and people won't put up with this hypocrisy anymore. You found out the hard way didn't you, I heard you even apologized today, ha, that made me laugh too. But you just don't get it do you, do you think everyone knows you recieve Social Security, Al, you're 79 damn years old, you sure as shit get Social Security, hmm and presumably you've been receiving it for 14 years, and Medicare too, 'cause I am pretty sure you aren't buying your own policy and not using Medicare at all for your health care needs. Right? Right? Right? Seriously Al, in light of those facts, shouldn't those opinions you hold lack a certain amount of credibility on this issue, relegating your opinions to appear to be lacking in seriousness, thereby rendering them irrelevant. Come on Al, we all know what you said, and we all know about your apology, but the problem Al, is we don't believe you, we believe you are out to eliminate Social Security and Medicare protections for the elderly. That has been the Republican plan all along, right? More war, is fine, but definitely there should be fewer services for regular Americans, cause that is sucking up all our money, not war, war is fine. War is Good. Right? Just like Orwell wrote.

I have to tell you something Al, I for one am glad you put your size 15's in you mouth again, because I think American's should understand where you all are coming from, you have no problem warring around the world, and you have no problem cutting services for every American.

Why is it cool we throw tons of money away on Iraq and Afghanistan, supplying them with services we owe to ourselves? I mean come on Al, I really don't want my taxes going to Iraq to supply them with Universal Health Care, you all need to quit demonizing social services like they will make our country weak, yet giving them away in the middle east, supplying the money it will take for services for Iraqi's, stomping around about more Wars (Iran) and fewer services for American's. Quit demagoguing the issues so much, you have so many Americans confused they think if they get health care they are in socialist hell? What.The.Fuck. are you kdding me? I don't want to hear you whine about how we are throwing our money away, but only when it comes to providing services to ourselves? I am fucking tired of that kind of pure, unadulterated hypocrisy. It pisses me off, and you know what I damn tired of having to be pissed of at you and people like you. Why don't we deserve it Al? Why are American's not worth it, I mean, it is our money, essentially. Why is everybody more worthy than we are, shouldn't we try to take care us too, not just others? I've never heard a good explanation as to why we cannot use our own money to provide good services to all Americans. Give me a good reason, or shut up. You are just another demagogue, it isn't helpful and in that you are on some committee to save Social Security, crap, that sucks, you obviously think we should phase it out. You know, after you're dead and you cannot collect any more yourself. What massive, unadulterated hypocrisy.

Anyway, lucky for you Al, you never have to have your services cut. You don't have to worry about money. I am sure you made sure that your children and their children never have to worry either. But Al, you are lucky, how can you not see that? Not everyone is so lucky as you Al, and you have to understand, put yourself in the place of others, not just your family.

Well Al, I don't want to repeat myself, but I am hoping you keep up the BS, because it is one more reminder, that no matter how bad Democrats may seem, they are always better than Republicans, always.

I shall await your reply, but I won't hold my breath

Mac

Topics:

Politics

Humor & Satire

Social Justice

Thu, 26 Aug 2010 23:58:11 +0000 tmccarthy0 3524 at http://dagblog.com http://dagblog.com/humor-satire/dear-alan-simpson-former-senator-current-political-gadfly-3524#comments http://dagblog.com/crss/node/3524 George Bush's Legacy: Losing Afghanistan in 2001 http://dagblog.com/politics/george-bushs-legacy-losing-afghanistan-2001-3522

I have been a little angry lately, things are not going right in Afghanistan and I want everyone who reads me to know why. This isn't going to be too long, because I need to get a bike ride in this morning.

Obviously I was always opposed to the war in Iraq, as it had nothing to do with 9-11, but it most certainly had something to do with oil. Those facts are irrefutable. But Afghanistan was a different story, I did feel as though bin Laden needed to be caught, killed, to show Al Qaeda we weren't going to sit around and let them commit terrible offenses against Americans. So initially I supported any action that would directly go after that man. At this poing we know this President is taking lots of heat from the left and the right over Afghanistan. But I wonder, is it time to admit we lost what should have been a small action to get bin Laden, and it is time to leave, because there is nothing more than can be done in Afghanistan. I've heard general after general reiterate over and over again, we need to spend 10 or 15 more years in Afghanistan in order to save that country from itself. Because Al Qaeda is no longer an issue in Afghanistan. Ten to 15 more years! I don't think so, if we look at history, we know, in 10 or 15 more years we will still be in the same place we are now, and Afghanistan will not have changed one iota.

Does anyone else remember hearing the story of Tora Bora, when our military and the heads of our government basically let Osama bin Laden go, I believe that was in 2001 or early 2002, and that was the day the war in Afghanistan was lost, and there is no making up for the hugest military mistake we've ever made. Because we have spent money and lives in a place that never changes. But the question must be asked, and it must be asked sooner rather than later, why was the decision made to allow Afghani tribes to take out bin Laden as opposed to our highly trained military. I want to know why? I want to know if generals suggested this on purpose, in order to justify their own jobs, and now they think we should stay forever, in a losing proposition, because they lost the war in 2001, and they don't want anyone to realize we have lost yet another war.

The President, is in between a rock and a hard place, but is not making the correct decisions, because we must leave Afghanistan and Iraq completely, not only our we broke, but we seem to be in an endless state of war, and I really thought he would be more able to get us out of these wars of folly. I am more than disappointed he has not done so, but I am also disappointed that there is no acknowledging we have lost Afghanistan, because we failed to get bin Laden, and he was the mission. What is our mission now, to never admit we've lost? To be endlessly at war? I feel as thought this President is a victim of a country with a militaristic attitude and the only way to prove you are really American enough is to "complete the mission", whatever that mission might be, in it's current form. I remember the lack of respect John Kerry got from conservatives over his service in Vietnam, claiming he didn't deserve any of his medals, and they made up terrible stories about him, because deep down as a nation, we are still fighting that war too, and Afghanistan is merely an extension of our loss in Vietnam. We see faux patriotism where ever we go now, all over the country, you know KILL KILL KILL, endless War, transporting pieces of 9-11 all over the country, politicians constantly wrapping themselves in the flag. The TeaParty is merely a crazy extension of all this, they wear flags, accuse the President of not being one of us, drawing lines in the sand over who is American enough and who isn't. We aren't allowed to move on until we win, but we already lost, we lost when bin Laden was allowed to go free, and it was the military higher ups and the last administration that made the decision to let that happen, by giving the task to Afghani tribes, who have played both sides of the coin since the Soviets tried to conquer Afghanistan in the 20th century. Now that 6 in 10 American's no longer support this war, because it is obvious we cannot win, isn't it time to reasses, without the advice of the same generals who advised our past President that we should allow Afghani tribes to get bin Laden while trapped in Tora Bora? How can we trust the generals? Their job is to conduct wars, they have no other job. Our President should no longer trust them, he needs to take charge as only a civilian can, admit we lost in 2001, and get our troops out of Afghanistan once and for all. We will never win there, never, because the day bin Laden was allowed to go free, was the day we lost, and that should be George Bush's legacy, not Barack Obama's.

Now it is time to ride.

Topics:

Politics

World Affairs

Wed, 25 Aug 2010 14:10:43 +0000 tmccarthy0 3522 at http://dagblog.com http://dagblog.com/politics/george-bushs-legacy-losing-afghanistan-2001-3522#comments http://dagblog.com/crss/node/3522 America by Heart: Reflections: The PreBook http://dagblog.com/arts-entertainment/america-heart-reflections-prebook-3477

It was going to be a long day, the day she sat down to write her book. And to tell you the truth, I have little to say about Julian Assange, except, who in the hell told him that hairstyle was flattering. He looks like a broke down, Diane Sawyer.

Okay enough of that, let's get serious. Let's talk about top secret documents, let's talk about electronic security and let's talk about the Pentagon.

People are up in arms over Afghanistan and Iraq. And after almost 10 years at War, American's simply want out of both, and I am with them on that point. However, I simply do not believe that a private can send that number of documents out of the DOD system, something I know a little about, without top level people approving this, and here is why I write these words.

Having known a good number of people who currently work for the DOD, these people have Top Secret Security Clearances, can't even send attachments from their email accounts. Period. They cannot access their email from home. They cannot accept email attachments at work. These people are top level scientists and engineers. Yet, we have people telling us some private not only had access to these documents, but he presumably was able to send these attachments to those folks at Wikileaks, for years. I am sorry, but I have real questions about what the hell is going on here, and who really wants those documents released, and why?

After the McChrstal episode, and hearing what disdain he and his staff had for the President, I wonder how rampant, those opinions, as expressed by McChrystal and his staff, among Military Brass? Was it just McChrystal and his staff that seemed to view the President as somehow not worthy of the Presidency, and certainly, not worthy to be Commander in Chief? Did these folks merely reflect what could be the opinions of the leadership at the Pentagon? I really don't believe the picture as presented to us. However, I have no real answers. But seriously, if the Pentagon has such lax electronic security systems, so loose that a mere private can steal top secret documents right there at work and upload them to wikileaks, they need some real electronic security professionals to come in and assist them. I just figure, their security is fine, but that Manning and maybe others were allowed to send these documents to wikileaks to somehow undermine the President. And that is really what we should be looking at, not some kid, who no doubt helped break the law, but we need to find the real prepetrators and their motives. Because something doesn't sound quite right here.

Topics:

Politics

Technology

World Affairs

Media

Tue, 27 Jul 2010 14:51:22 +0000 tmccarthy0 3468 at http://dagblog.com http://dagblog.com/media/secret-communication-sent-wikileaks-private-i-just-dont-believe-story-3468#comments http://dagblog.com/crss/node/3468 I Am A Nerd, an Unashamed Nerd! But when I heard the Nerds at San Diego's ComiCon have gone to War with the Westboro Baptist Church, I knew I'd been hanging with the right people.

Like this guy:

And this guy:

And even this woman!

I need ideas, who or what costume should I be wearing in case the WBC nutbags show up at PAX. What kind of sign should I be carrying?

I need your ideas people, PAX is on Labor Day Weekend. I am old yes, but I want to join in the fun.

Yes this is how I bond with my adult boys, men, okay whatever, I know it might seem weird, but it is why Nerds have better relationships with their kids; we never, ever grow up, not ever.

Topics:

Arts & Entertainment

Potpourri

Humor & Satire

Personal

Sat, 24 Jul 2010 15:29:45 +0000 tmccarthy0 3463 at http://dagblog.com http://dagblog.com/arts-entertainment/i-am-nerd-unashamed-nerd-pax-after-comicon-comes-pax-or-how-bond-your-adult-nerd-#comments http://dagblog.com/crss/node/3463 Worst Economy Ever http://dagblog.com/humor-satire/worst-economy-ever-3462

Meet Eric Roberts, acclaimed movie actor, older brother to Julia Roberts, he stars in: Worst Economy Ever, a new series, created by me, with exactly one entry.

This economy is so bad, Eric Roberts had to take a job as an actor on The Young and the Restless. His evil intentions remind me of One of Shakespeare's most evil creations, he manoeuvres his way to the throne by a series of murderous plots.
