I</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>You know:  the case was  made, especially by the businesses ruined by the interstates.  I was a kid then---with no real opinion---except that I sure liked the idea of nothiving to crawl up the Wilbur Cross in Connecticut after my family moved from Massachusetts to New Jersey only to spend about a weekend every other month heading back "home."  Still, the little Italian restaurant we would stop in on halfway up undoubtedly went out of business and that's sad.</p><p>Funny how today many people who live where I do take the old route 17 past the ruins of the Red Apple, instead of the Thruway.  I have no nostalgia for the summers when route 17 was just one long traffic jam from the Catskills down to Jersey, but the Red Apple was fun.</p><p> </p></div></div></div> Mon, 23 May 2011 15:36:48 +0000 Barth comment 121357 at http://dagblog.com Eisenhighways. I also believe this is the kind of plan that we are likley to end up with, though somewhat less generous as it will be forced on us by our creditors who won't give a hair about healthcare for seniors and the needy.
