It's even been suggested that the Maine was blown up by us to get the public to O.K the Spanish American War. You are right about the expanding extent of these deceptions. It seem what little honor there is in war and it's justifcation has been totally replaced by the quest to take a bad situation and make it profitable.

As stated in my piece, Dick Chaney and his boys at Haliburtan had their eyes on the prize from the get-go. I knew when the truth came out on the Yellow-Cake story, what the real motivation was. Such a shame this is type of leadership this country is forced to accept. This as you say was pure fab.

While I agree that Al-Qaeda is a real threat; here again is an enemy of our own creation. These people, as most of the terrorist organizaitons, are reflections of the resentment brought about by our exploitation of riches belonging to others. We go in; buy the leadership and make off with the loot, leaving the people with nothing to show for it but destroyed landscapes and polluted rivers and water tables.

But things have now changed. Using the Bush Doctrine, America can go where it wants and takes what it likes; all in the name of self presevation. Using this tool, could it be possible that any Arab nation that has what we want will come under the gun by portraying them as a threat?

Yes profit has replaced what little honor there once was in the reasoning for war. And as we both agree and which has been proven for thousands of years - FEAR BLAZES THE TRAIL TO RICHES !!

Thu, 23 Jun 2011 16:52:33 +0000 Tommy Holmes comment 125592 at http://dagblog.com Every war that there has ever http://dagblog.com/comment/125288#comment-125288
In reply to The Real Terror in the War on Terror

Every war that there has ever been has been promoted by fear. You think that FDR didn't exploit anti-German and anti-Japanese sentiment in WWII?

The difference is the extent to which the threat is exaggerated or even fabricated. The threat from Hussein's WMDs was fabricated. The threat from Al Qaeda was not, though it was exaggerated.

Tue, 21 Jun 2011 14:57:58 +0000 Michael Wolraich comment 125288 at http://dagblog.com
