The Friends of Eddie Coyle, starring Robert Mitchum as a small-time Boston hood, has been out on DVD a few years. I'm assuming, doctor, that you've seen the 1973 film noir, around which the Bulgers (though never mentioned, as I recall) hover like a depressing, gritty mist. (Supposedly, Mitchum hung out with Whitey as preparation.)

One of my favorite movies of all time; Mitchum, Peter and a stellar ensemble cast turn in deliciously understated performances. If by some chance you haven't seen it, see it. If you have, see it again. Fine post.
