I'm not sure if you're saying all Filipinos are simple, or if just the simple ones hate the Chinese. There are many more significant ethnic and cultural resentments in the Philippines. Lots of my family is from there, and the idea that mentioning Chinese to a Filipino touches some seething resentment is ridiculous.

There is still a lot of residual bad feeling in the Philippines over Japan's treatment of the Philippines in WWII. The Chinese, on the other hand, enjoyed centuries of commerce w the Philippines, and pockets of the Philippines are substantially Chinese. What's with comparing Filipino feelings for the Chinese with Serbs and Croatians?
