I'm forced to conclude the Democrats are the irrational, obstructionist ideologues and the Republicans (Tea Partiers in particular) are the adults in the room. If only the president would accede to all the TP demands, the country would have true bipartisanship. Except for raising the debt limit and avoiding a new recession -- that's asking them to compromise their principles!

Sun, 31 Jul 2011 05:19:04 +0000 acanuck comment 129537 at http://dagblog.com Perfect. Al has become a superb interlocutor through experience, both good and bad and have become a fan. He was once a practitioner of spin, rants, passionate polemic and debate, and sermons, of course; studied with and of the best. And through numerous trials, tribulations, and run-ins with official government types and other power brokers (as well as running for the highest office in the land and watching his competitors in the process,) he learned other tricks of various trades. Now in the wisdom of his old age, it is fun to watch him seemingly look back on all of that and switch to: thoughtful--he watches others do what he once did at one time or another, whatever that might be, and thoughtfully asks them the questions that should have once been asked of him.

Sat, 30 Jul 2011 19:43:16 +0000 lamont comment 129519 at http://dagblog.com Thanks for spotting that. http://dagblog.com/comment/129517#comment-129517
In reply to I agree with CVille Dem. The media is useless as Republicans, Rush and Fox News set the new cycle agenda which is pathologically followed by the rest of the media.

I think CNN is the worse, because you expect an even break once in a while. But, no, Wolf, Anderson and all the regulars bought into the Republicans' script--Why hasn't Obama put out a PLAN. PLAN, PLAN, BLAH, BLAH.

Actually the most succinct rebuttal of the no-plan charge I heard was from the Rev. Al. Say what you want about this guy, his baggage etc., he can get across a point better than most.

He challenged a guest:"Boehner said the President moved the goal post, right? What wrong is one party has gone rabid on us while the other is afraid of speaking up and going toe-to-toe for fear they might anger the opposition and face a nasty re-election process.
