The Catholic hierarchy in Chicago has been trying to figure out how to uproot Pfleger from his neighborhood church for years. They even tried to make him the principal of a Catholic high school several blocks away. Unfortunately, they did not tell the then current principal of the high school about the change. Media showed up to ask the principal what he thought about Pfleger being named the new head of the school :).

In the end, Pfleger remained at the church.

I think that movement has spread to other inner cities. I remember hearing about it being done in Harlem as well. It reminds me of the scene from the Godfather, when one of the mob bosses is talking about the mob getting the into the drug business and says: "I want to control it as a business, to keep it respectable. [slams his hand on the table and shouts] I don't want it near schools! I don't want it sold to children! That's an infamia. In my city, we would keep the traffic in the dark people, the coloreds. They're animals anyway, so let them lose their souls..."
