It's just as well.

He talks too much per se, and in particular compared to his "middle of the road" proposals. If the administration had made any more of an issue of the date change the reaction Thursday would have been : Is this why they had such a fight?

I'm not sure that these inadequate proposals have necessarily been wrong. Might well have been all he could have gotten passed. But they're not worth provoking a constitutional confrontation.

That was the original deal. Then McConnell moved the goal posts (get it, heh heh) and now the network carrying the speech will show it as a split screen teeny tiny insert into the feed from the game.

The other network will just show the game, period.
