keep your eye on the mayoral vote in SanFran. That's how we do it. Also Oaktown's mayor won because of ranked choice votes.

You know I disagree with you strategically, but logically this is sound:

Now, before we shed tears at the prospect of increasing Boehner's hold on the speakership by another vote, pause and reflect that the road to relevance for a third party will always traverse terrain labeled "here there be spoilers".

One thing we could both agree on (and hence will never happen) is that changing our voting system from its current style to some form of ranked voting would help fix this dilemma. I'm no lawyer, but I don't think this even needs to happen on a national level. I think each state gets to set up its own method of voting, so I'd love it if some state would take the reins on this.

I'ts going to hurt like hell, but if we don't ever get either a) an influential Liberal third party, or b) a Liberal takeover of the Democratic Party, we're going to keep trundling down the road to government of, by and for the Plutocrats.
