It seems like a linguistic convention that reflects a harsh reality.</p> <p>And you're right about the Section 8 stuff. By the time a young mother gets her Section 8 status, she's "stayed" with her kid or kids on a lot of couches and in a lot of spare rooms and basement not-really-apartments, maybe in a few shelters even. It's a lot of mayhem for the kids.</p> <p>I'd make a $5 bet that if we were to fully fund Section 8, achievement scores in urban public schools would spike, with no other intervention.</p> </div></div></div> Sat, 14 Jan 2012 22:22:58 +0000 erica20 comment 146707 at http://dagblog.com
