On reading what Issa said about religious liberty, I wished someone had asked whether or not women were entitled to that, too. Then I remembered that it is some Catholic Bishops making the fuss. Question answered.

I still would like to ask for their interpretation of the rendering unto Caesar story.

There were ministers and rabbis and priests represented. I would have asked each one question:

Can a woman be a minister, rabbi or priest in your particular sect?

Republicans definitely need to be called out on their misogyny and when they use their official positions to mislead on important issues as well, but not like this:

After walking out of the hearing Thursday, Holmes Norton pulled Fluke into the hallway to allow her to speak to reporters. Fluke began to cry as she told the story of her 32-year-old friend who was diagnosed with ovarian cysts and prescribed birth control pills as the only remedy for her condition that could save her from becoming infertile. Because her student insurance did not cover contraception, Fluke's friend could not afford her medication, and she eventually lost her ovary and began experiencing symptoms of early menopause.

Seriously, that is not the way to fight back. It does not even ring true unless the 'friend' was on mega- or giga- doses. Contraception is not that expensive. Even so, there are organizations <cough> Planned Parenthood </cough> and manufacturers 'programs that can help the uninsured who cannot afford retail.

Far better to ask why contraceptives still require prescriptions. Why are they not OTC by now. So many other medicines that once required prescriptions are now OTC. Sure doing that would eliminate insurance coverage but that is a small price for women to pay to begin regaining sovereignty over their own bodies....and their beliefs, aka their religious liberty, as well.

It's just incredible, they still 'don't get it!', they are so mired in the quicksand of their chauvinism and twisted ideology. Hope more read this and contact their Reps.

What do the GOP men think they are going to gain from all this political theater? They are not going to be able to smooth this over with women in time for November. I am in a house district that used to be Ruby red, but the last few election cycles, the Republican incumbant has only won by a very slim margin. It won't take much of a shift away from voting Republican by women to lose this house seat.
