I think that's spot on. Pretty much by definition, conservatives don't want change. I think the Obama-hatred is just an after-touch.

Good post. It's unfortunate, and a little strange.

But as much as Obama-hatred might be fueling this, I think there is a genuine suspicion of new technology, and lots of conservatives simply have a visceral dislike of change.

I'm thinking about how many conservatives seem deeply upset by the shift to newer forms of light bulb. I also remember that many conservatives absolutely hated the metric system back in the 70s, and Reagan killed the shift to metric after he came into office.

I think a bunch of the electric-car-haters genuinely hate the idea of electric cars, simply because they don't want things to change.
