Sadly, it seems as if 'all that's old is new again' in this political arena. Bigotry, whether it be focused on race, gender, religion and/or socio-economic status is their weapon of choice and the bully brigades are out in force, honing in on their prey.

As they march in lockstep, it's disheartening and terrifying to witness how too many revert to the reactions of yesteryear - suppression, regression and submission.

Reaching that mountaintop is not for the timid, weak-willed or apathetic.

I am just bringing up a subject I never understood.

I mean the repubs underline their anxiety over the new healthcare measures.

But nobody ever attacks the ....you see!

I mean specific provisions attacking the loss of health insurance coverage by the children or by pre-existing problems (whatever the hell that means!) or by new employees without proper credentials?....

I can sympathize. In my Michigan, our Koch-addicted governor, Rick Snyder, passed himself off as "One Tough Nerd" and a family guy. Funny, he didn't look like a vicious dictator but that's what he turned out to be. He's out to privatize everything and the way he's making it happen is to take over entire towns and throw out the elected officials in favor of his hand-picked "financial managers".

Public unions are a menace, too, as are all public employees, so they have to go, too. There's a recall petition going around but he's fighting it It's not easy being the dictator.

One silver lining to this dark cloud is that it could cause a significant "state" transition for states such as Virginia that have been hovering between red and blue for a while. (Our previous governor was a Democrat.) Governor McDonnell tried to paint himself as a moderate Republican during the last election. I'd like to believe that the electorate won't be fooled a second time. (Of course, I thought the same thing in 2004, so what do I know?)
