I just found this gem at Slate this morning from a guy who is just interviewing people:

I have met people like this and dealt with them all my life. There are tens of millions of them and nothing is going to change their attitudes--except for those who fire them up.

This is America! This particular man feels that it is Obama's fault that he has to pay $600 to license his truck!

Again, I am beginning to believe that there is a great percentage of our population who really are right of Rush and others of hate radio.

These so called conservatives have to have some one or some group to hate and despise to justify their world view. A view they have been saddled with since they were infants do partly to genetics and to a great extant to their upbringing.

If one does a study like the one did by Geraint Rees and Dr Ryota Kanai at University College London, one finds that their are actual physiological differences. And a lot of this has to do with the way their brains respond to their environment while in the first 3-5 years of life. Most of these people were treated horrendously as children, where in the brains and their world view were ingrained to be defensive of ANYTHING they felt even a little threatened by.
