But it causes me to wonder how different things would be today if Obama and the Dems had adopted a strongly populist campaign coming out of the 2008 elections rather than ceding this territory to Armey and Rove and the Tea Party poseurs.

Sat, 12 May 2012 18:35:59 +0000 SleepinJeezus comment 154054 at http://dagblog.com Obama won't even be able to http://dagblog.com/comment/154031#comment-154031
In reply to The Unfinished Business of the Obama Administration: Poverty & Unemployment

Obama won't even be able to so much as hire a new floor waxer for the White House basketball court if he doesn't get a whole new Congress.

Right now its looking pretty hopeless. We saw a whiff of that last year with the Occupy movement, as the newly dispossessed tried to make common cause with those who have been on the fringes their entire lives. I'm not sure how well that took, frankly, and I'm wondering if Occupy will come on strong this year, or be supplanted by 99% Spring, which seems like Occupy-without-any-scary-poor-people.

Fri, 11 May 2012 13:57:00 +0000 Donal comment 153999 at http://dagblog.com
