Hey, Teri, I'm picturing you canning and remembering when I used to do it, too. It's very satisfying and maybe I'll do it again some time. My problem is that I live in a small cabin now and storage is always an issue. I do freezer-can, especially when people bring us tomatoes and we can't eat them all right away. (I'm really jealous that you can get good apples without breaking the bank. Michigan's apple crop was just about wiped out by weather so we're hurting here.)

But about the talking heads. I do watch MSNBC a lot, and I'm finding UP with Chris Hayes a must-watch on Saturday and Sunday mornings. He is smart and articulate and invites guests from both sides who are the same. They actually discuss issues rather than trying to out-soundbite each other, and that's because they know they have more than mere seconds to get their points across. It's refreshing.

I can't watch Rev. Al or Ed Schultz, however. They shout and I can't stand shouters. Lawrence O'Donnell says what I want to hear most of the time, but he tends to talk too slowly, giving the impression that he's lecturing to people he apparently thinks can't understand things otherwise. I still like Rachel Maddow a lot, but even she gets wrapped up in theatrics when I want her to do the solid reporting she's so good at.

I don't watch CNN as much anymore, though I sometimes watch Anderson Cooper. I absolutely cannot spend more than a few seconds with Wolf Blitzer. But I do see an important place for talking-head shows. Politicians and their minions go on them to argue their cases and whether we think they're right or wrong, they're almost always fascinating to watch.

I really was not thinking of it like this; I mean I call rush and beckerhead and cnbc and fox news and....whores all the time.

Again, as I mentioned elsewhere, I originally wrote horse.

I agree with you Mona.

And in the scheme of things, does her show even matter? Hardly, it's on CNN, a channel that has morphed into Fox Lite. But is she a whore, no, she is just doing what she thinks her job is and that is to drive ratings. She isn't able to do it of course, but that is all she is doing. Turn on SyFy or last night AMC for the nth run of Groundhog Day, (I love that movie it's my favorite) but ignore Cable Talking heads, they drive the news, they make the news, but they don't report the news and as long as you know that, you know everything you need to know about those channels.

I need more coffee and need to get back to my canning!

Okay, I'm going to say what you're all waiting to hear from the little ladies here: I'm no fan of Erin Burnett (I've written about her here), but calling her a whore and a pig and then talking about sucking corporate cocks makes you sound like little boys trying to talk about a serious issue by using kid talk. It rarely ever works, except among other little boys.

Sorry, Richard, but you lost me right away. I have no idea where you've gone with this, because I didn't read beyond the first few paragraphs. If that's okay with you, it's fine with me, too. Just wanted you to know how it looks from this woman's POV.
