The stretch from Salida, over Monarch Pass, and on through Gunnison towards Montrose was like a stroboscopic collage of jig saw puzzle pictures of mountains in the fall. On the river bottoms the grass was still largely green but the trees had turned and were brilliant gold. It felt almost surreal it was so calendar like beautiful for mile after mile.

Also, as I drove I listened to a very good book I had somehow missed ever reading. "Ender's Game" seemed like it could have been written yesterday. The whole thing made me think about "What a long strange trip its been". From game to game, but a lot of it has been pretty cool.

Sat, 13 Oct 2012 01:02:11 +0000 A Guy Called LULU comment 167032 at http://dagblog.com I'm sure you're seeing what http://dagblog.com/comment/167030#comment-167030
In reply to We are just about done here.

I'm sure you're seeing what I'm seeing most of the the time, even though we're probably 4 or 500 miles apart. I would say that fall is my favorite time of year, but when it starts to get cold I'm reminded too much of winter.

But I don't see it as dying, since the trees are still alive. It's more like shedding old skin. I do love to shuffle through the leaves, though. I don't know why I get such a kick out of that, but I do.

Fri, 12 Oct 2012 23:54:24 +0000 Ramona comment 167030 at http://dagblog.com We are just about done here. http://dagblog.com/comment/167021#comment-167021
In reply to Fall Comes to the U.P.

We are just about done here.
