And have no idea that all communications with Afghanistan is heavily monitored? Especially clear text chatting in English? (no need for special translators, makes our lazy intelligence's job easier)

And there aren't enough people in Afghanistan willing to blow up stuff, that no, they have to go to the expense to fly a couple morons from LA to Kabul? One who chatters madly about "C-4" like he's just seen a Bruce Willis film?

There's been a steady escalation of Green-on-Blue attacks in Afghanistan - Taliban and others are recruiting internally, not flying in foreigners with a big "NEWBIE" tag on their foreheads, who need rifle training so they can set off C-4? It's a bad movie, and we've seen it before. The FBI and CIA are wasting our money, just like all the NYC police surveillance of Muslims that captured exactly 0 terrorists. Pathetic, and meanwhile, US soldiers are getting killed by the inside jobs that are wrecking our beautiful occupation. But the charade must go on, war on terruh 4-evuh.

Oh, and just in case, "AWLAKI AWLAKI AWLAKI". There, the guys are guilty because they listened themselves to sum o'dat evil Awlaki. Case closed.

Tue, 20 Nov 2012 21:00:45 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 170692 at http://dagblog.com First, I thought the FBI was http://dagblog.com/comment/170685#comment-170685
In reply to I have so many, many biased

First, I thought the FBI was restricted to America....Well what the hell is the FBI to do?

This is always an interesting point. In this case, however, it did strike me how it somehow worked out conveniently because the alleged perp chose to be where we are sort-of/sort-of-not, in charge:

Kabir is being detained in Afghanistan. The other three appeared for a detention hearing Monday in Riverside

Who detained him? CIA, military, FBI agents flown in, how does this get accomplished? It's not clear, but it got done. Note that he is the one that is a citizen, and not only that, but from the AP article:

Kabir served in the Air Force from 2000 to 2001.

The LA Times article has been updated with a lot more info since I posted it Has a KTLA video with photos of two of the others and a copy of the complaint The article says

Santana is a permanent resident born in Mexico, authorities said, and Deleon is a permanent resident born in the Philippines.

The 3 gang members following the Kabir gang leader seem to be young twenty-somethings; Santana had still been living with his parents. I can't get away from thinking that they didn't like any of the established gangs that were available for the choosing, but found Kabir's Awlaki-infused Islam the most attractive and glamorous. From the AP article:

"I wanna do C-4s if I could put one of these trucks right here with my, with that. Just drive into, like, the baddest military base," Santana said, according to the complaint.

Basically, he wants to be Bruce Willis in "Die Hard"? Video games just don't cut it? Join the jihad of the little guy against the big bad Amerika if you want some real action?

Look at it this way, Richard: a military recruiter could have gotten hold of him and offered him a "Dream Act" kinda deal, then he could be blasting Afghan civilians?

There should be no shame in disliking what kind of young man he appears to be, mho. There may be no ideology here except the glorification of violence. It is an interesting case.

Tue, 20 Nov 2012 19:39:42 +0000 artappraiser comment 170685 at http://dagblog.com I have so many, many biased http://dagblog.com/comment/170671#comment-170671
In reply to 4 Southern California men held in plot to join Al Qaeda, Taliban

I have so many, many biased comments about this floating around the evil side of my brain...but I shall not bother to air them or publish them or...

First, I thought the FBI was restricted to America.

Second, I thought the CIA was restricted to everywhere except America.

But what if we allow foreigners from strange countries; countries in which we are fighting (I don't know, name me a country where we are not killing people?
