When Brubeck graduated UOP, they sent him a letter asking him not to mention this fact because they didn't want to be associated with his crazy music. About ten years ago, at the tender age of 80ish, UOP and Brubeck founded the Brubeck Institute. I have a friend who was lucky enough to work with him while she studied at UOP. She simply can't say enough about the experience.

These days, he's properly regarded as a legend of west coast jazz. RIP, Bru. You were the coolest cat in the room before anyone knew it.

Oh I love this tune. Though most of his pieces were over my head. His Jaz was out there to be sure.
