Where everything is put in monetary terms and everything has a price. And this idea is drummed into your heads from the time your are very young. "Do you think money grows on trees ?!" "You need a good education so you can make good money." "Why do you want to do that ? There's no money in it."

People in this country don't even talk anymore - so you are left with an isolation from your own family or loved ones. They can be exactly that and yet you feel alien from them.

There was an article in Cracked.com (a humor site but bear me out) about how the world is set up to meet people's needs. If no one is giving you the respect you think you deserve, it's because you aren't fulfilling the needs of another person - whatever those are.

Money is a means of profiting off people's needs - but you could end up helping people with their needs without ever making a single dollar. People in this culture don't know how to do that anymore. I think a huge swap of this country would look at anyone who tried to do that as a "loser."

I can't argue with any of your points, so I will simply consider a thought. A while back Michael Wolraich questioned whether Liberals had any ideas worth fighting for. I posted an open thread to see if what ideas we could come up with. It seems to me, in this blog you put your finger on some of the ideas that it might be time to start, if not fighting for, at the very least asserting or advocating as being what 'our side' strives for, in our quest to create a more perfect union.
