Yes, I had surgery on the left one and will go back and do the right one in a few weeks. I found a clinical study that said that ultrasound procedure could be a problem for people with fused spines, like me, plus they thought there might be an infection, so the surgery was necessary. The real trouble, however, was the intubation. Even though I explained my problem, (neck and spine totally fused) to the anesthesiologists, and they agreed that using flexible intubation was the only way to go, there were still problems (including finding out that I have sleep apnea!) and the operation went something like 8 hours. They then left the intubation tubes in me for another I'm not sure how long. Five hours of which I was awake trying to get my hands out of the restraining straps in order to pull the damned tube out of my throat. I had, a few days earlier gone through an endoscopy and thought I would never want to do anything like that ever again. But that was only for about 35 minutes. This seemed endless. The doctor reassures me that he will use a different method when he removes the stone in my other kidney. And so it goes.

I went through this last year. Only I had one stone on the left side. 2 trips to the hospital. Mine broke up with their help and I passed the pieces. One hell of a pain for a week. Did you have surgery?
