This is a bit off-topic, but I wanted to share it with you, DD ... I was just watching the movie "Holiday" with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn on TCM. There was a scene with the old codger playing her wealthy father, who, in a moment of frustration towards the end of the movie reveals that he's 58 years old ... and all I could think was FIFTY-EIGHT!! DEAR GOD, I'M FOUR YEARS OLDER THAN THAT REALLY OLD GUY!! hahahahaha

I remember coming up beyond Zero Mostel one day while walking in NYC. It was 1976 and he was doing a Broadway revival of his great role of Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. It took me a moment to realize it was him. He did not look well, he was heavier than I had ever seen him and he was struggling to walk; he must have been in a great deal of pain, but he kept going. I didn't want to intrude on his personal space, so I did not approach him. I think he passed away a few months later.

You're right about Wilder. He has become a codger. LOL

I mean he will not watch a movie dated after 1991? I have read his thoughts for years and he talks about sexual and bathroom jokes and all I recall is that one scene where he keeps grabbing or punching his co-stars boobs. haahahah

I first saw that clip from The Producers on the Mike Douglas show. Mel Brooks was promoting the movie and they showed the whole "Springtime for Hitler" number. Watching it on TV, I was laughing so loudly, I decided I had to see the movie by myself so as not to embarrass a date. It's still one of my favorite comedies, and I think part of what makes it special is that remarkable first scene, which, even though it's the set-up, is an inspired mixture of comedy and pathos, with Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder playing off each other brilliantly. About halfway through, in the midst of the back and forth dialog, Mostel has a throw-away line, which perfectly expresses his character's hard times and desperation; with great exasperation, he tells Wilder, "I'm wearing a cardboard belt." What a line. Is it any wonder the script won the Oscar for best original screenplay?

Well Sara Palin got her old job back at Fox. So maybe she will get back into the swing of nuttery, and give everyone some laughs. I can't even get into the NSA debate right now. It is like I am suffering GOP fatigue. We are having a special election today in my county to renew a half penny tax that has been around for years. It pays some of the county employee's wages and funds a health care fund for the homeless. You should see all the mailers I have gotten on this from conservatives out side of this county. I am taking 5 people to the polls today to vote for it because I got all those dam flyers. What business is it of theirs?
