Greenwald makes money attacking the US and offering a hypothetical dead Snowden up as bait to anyone out there who wants to give the US a 'nightmare'. That would make for a whole series of dicey columns in the Guardian...no?

It's all about Greenwald, his meal ticket, his occupation, and making the most out of it while inferring the fantasy that the nasty ruthless US has it's sights set to dispatch his and Assange latest naif leaker.

Snowden and Greenwald have to be an integral parts of the story. Greenwald suggests that he is carefully vetting information suggesting that we are being kept in the dark above things the public should know about NSA. Snowden says he has things that could further worsen the reputation of the US.How are those claims not a part of the NSA story?

Greenwald is a US lawyer who understands the US system the best. He writes about what he knows. (Does he even speaks Portuguese? or would he just be doing lazy blogging where he joins everyone else's outrage on the topic-du-jour?

Additionally, Brazil recognizes his gay marriage for immigration, something the US doesn't, so maybe that persuades him not to shit in his own nest for the time being.

Anyway, Brazil isn't the world's policeman and hardly registers on the world stage - we might as well go back to those enlightening debates of Ecuador's media censorship vs protecting against right wing media buy-up.

Exactly what I was thinking. 'Kill Snowden, give the US it's worst nightmare'.

Nice of Greenwald to make Snowden a juicy target for anti-US groups/nations. Of course, if he is dispatched, the US will be blamed.

Of course for Greenwald, Snowden, Assange the propaganda is that the only evil in the world is found in the government of the United States, and only they can bring it to heel.

Greenwald has never written one article on the demonstrations against the government, the murder rate or the unrest in Brazil, where he lives.

If Snowden has a "dead man's switch" that goes into effect he he is harmed, doesn't that invite other counties/ organizations that dislike the US to kill Snowden? The harm to the US would come without any action by the US.

One interesting possible reason is suggested at the end of the article:

The Russian government has itself shown little regard for the international asylum process when it has pursued fugitives abroad. In a case last fall, a political opposition leader wanted by the Russian authorities who fled to Kiev and requested asylum was kidnapped when he stepped outside of his lawyer’s office for lunch. He was put in a van by masked men and driven back to Moscow, where federal officials insisted he had surrendered.
