What the heck, My eyesight is very poor these days. Still every new gun bill is for the same objective; protect the privileged class, because we all know, these self serving elites and their lapdog senators, don't give a crap about us peasants and where our next meal is coming from or whether we have a roof over our heads. They could care less if our cities and towns are crumbling around us or that we kill one another, just as long as the violence doesn't spread to their gated communities or threatens their Ivory towers. Get the peasants to clamor for gun control, and the elites can sleep better at night, knowing laws are enacted to prevent the disgruntled from taking matters into their own hands; forcing these very disgruntled, to put faith in a system put in place by the elites,, to reward the elites.

If the populace should figure out the best government money can buy, even police protection, rather than getting at the root causes of crimes and poverty. "Let the people eat cake" and if they don't like it and they should protest, send in the ~~troops~~ police to restrain the victims of poor governance.

Well that's certainly not true. You talk as if first world countries are the only countries that exist. Kids, mostly male kids, have access to and use guns in many countries in the world. Pretty young ones are even soldiers in some of them. (Not to mention they also smoke cigarettes, and can drive vehicles outside of big urban areas.)

And I don't believe that's just among the poor countries. Here, for example, are Saudi Arabia stats: estimated 35 firearms per 100 people.

Not that I want us to be like those countries, but I also pretty much think that hyperbole doesn't get you anywhere you'd want to go, either.

P.S. Your comment reminds me...back from the wonderful Leave it to Beaver days, I have pictures of me as a baby being given the dregs out of a beer bottle to drink at a family Christmas function. This was considered no big deal, nothing to be ashamed of. Pregnant women drank and smoked, and this upset no one. And back in the even more wonderful years of my oldest aunt, at 13 years of age she started driving the truck to the West Allis, WI farmer's market from the farm on weekends (only was able to finish the sixth grade.) She could speak English, you see, and her parents couldn't.

The something that occurred is the internet. Now when people start shouting about regulating guns, it's not only the smart P.R. methods of the N.R.A. that fight back. Extra stupid gun culture idiots, who think they know better how to "fight those liberals who are trying to take their guns away" can now also decide to do their own "P.R.," and post pictures on the internet, like the one at the top of the post, of their kids with guns.

Edit to add: You yourself pointed out that the rapper in NYC posted pix of his gun offerings on the internet. You think those kind of gun sales out of a rap studio didn't happen 15 years ago? I'm sure they did, and we just didn't know about them. Even the police didn't know about them.
