I did find it interesting and it did explain some things. It did not explain why they would think it okay to twist intelligence [if they in fact did] to try to justify dropping bombs on people or why they would have confidence enough that they could get away with it. If they were willing to sex up the intelligence it suggests that all they feel they are risking is having some negative big thing for a week or so until the next big thing makes it go away, as suggested by someone somewhere recently about a different subject.

Fri, 15 Nov 2013 03:17:12 +0000 A Guy Called LULU comment 186364 at http://dagblog.com If you haven't checked it http://dagblog.com/comment/186342#comment-186342
In reply to Fixing Intel Around the Syria Policy

If you haven't checked it out, I think you may find things of interest to you in the "Locked in the Cabinet" Politico piece, particularly on page 3 (on Sec. Gates vs. White House; Libya) and page 5 (on Syria decision & Kerry; Hagel). I'd suggest reading the whole thing, it really does help to lay out a full picture of a modus operandi that in turns helps explain a lot of past stories in the news, both on foreign and defense policy and on domestic matters.

Thu, 14 Nov 2013 20:33:46 +0000 artappraiser comment 186342 at http://dagblog.com Suddenly, Giraldi is http://dagblog.com/comment/186337#comment-186337
In reply to Fixing Intel Around the Syria Policy

Suddenly, Giraldi is everywhere. I just dissed him in regards to a conclusion he reached on a particular issue regarding Snowden. I will note here and stress that it was just a subjective conclusion I thought was wrong but not his statements of objective fact. His assertion in an article at The American Conservative about intelligence people threatening to resign over twisting of intelligence about Assad using poison gas is not proven one way or another at this point but is certainly worth considering. Also, considering the source, I found the comments to his article particularly interesting.

http://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/quitting-over-syria/

Another sight I find quite credible in its analysis, The Moon of Alabama, also refers to Gibraldi in its cover of this topic.

http://www.moonofalabama.org/2013/11/syria-insurgency-infighting-cia-ana...

Thu, 14 Nov 2013 19:23:10 +0000 A Guy Called LULU comment 186337 at http://dagblog.com
