There is plenty of news from the changes that the scientist are recording and writing about but the media chooses not to cover it. They don't have to cover it like Mad Max gloom and doom, Just explain how all of it works as science understands it with the technology that they currently have. There is no reason to include the stupid politics in the science. Let the facts speak for themselves. It is a subject that fascinates people of all ages.

No, that is an active volcano in the ring of fire. The older island wasn't that old and was part of the volcano that was sticking out of the water. The new lava flow is adding to the island.

The warm water has been building along the Equator for the last 5 years and was pushed downward because of the prevailing westerly winds. The dome of high pressure that was over California kept the winds blowing to the west. There was some other factors in the Pacific Rim that also effected the build up of this deep hot water. Normally the El Nino take 4 years to form in it cycle. Now that the wind has shifted the hot water is spreading out as it comes to the surface and moving to the east. It is releasing it's heat and energy. It is also evaporating and this means rain and storms for California. It also will have effects on the Atlantic Hurricane season but no reports have been issued yet.

If you follow his links at the end you will get easier charts to read. In some of his blogs earlier this year he had links to how the currents in the Oceans move around. The Arctic ice played a big roll in cooling these currents down.

had anything to do with that ocean heat wave.

Weather pattern maps can be so hard to read. I cannot tell where in the Pacific Ocean that kelvin wave is.
